The P2609 code definition is “Intake Air Heater System Performance.” This indicates that your vehicle’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM) has noted a problem with the intake air heater system. It’s usually because the heater itself or its wiring has somehow malfunctioned. While this is a generic powertrain code and can appear in many vehicles, the intake air heater system only shows up in diesel engines, so gasoline engine types won’t usually be impacted.
