Positive Review
This is an SUV, not build for luxury or extreme comfort. However, This is the best built SUV going. I have had mine 13 years, with 223,000 miles and I have been never disappointed in my trucks performance. She is just starting to have issues, oil tank leaking (rotted), slipping transmission; for that mileage I can't complain. I have taken her on beaches, Mountains trails made for 4-Wheelers, in all weather conditions and never had an issue (with the correct tires). I highly recommend Nitto Grappler tires, you will NEVER get stuck or be disappointed in any weather, or road / off road condition. She has been up & down the East Coast. I have been re-ended twice and not a dent, cars that hit me were totaled; she is a tank! 2005-2010 is a completely different SUV; different frame, different ride, lots of serious issues; I do not recommend these years. I wish Nissan stuck with the original X-Terra; same frame, body, shocks and over-all built
Critical Review
this car has cost me more in maintenance than any car i've ever owned. it's been recalled several times with each fix causing more problems (also not covered by the recall) every time i take the car in for general maintenance i end up having to replace something else. i've spent enough money on this car to pay for it 3 times over.

Bought this car for the clearance and the hope that it would be the perfect ski car that would get me up logging roads. Have had this car for three years now and put 20,000+ miles on it. It's at 145,000 miles and it's been a headache trying to figure out why the service engine light won't stop blinking. All the mechanics are confused. Poor gas mileage, and does OK in the snow. I've had better times driving in snow in my Toyota previa. Has a hard time accelerating and getting up to normal highway speeds. I've done my best to keep up with maintenance but this car was meant to stay in the early 2000s. Heat doesn't do so well in sub zero temperatures either. This might be a better desert car. Lastly, I'm a small woman and the driver seat doesn't pull up far enough for me to comfortably reach the gas pedal. I just want to get rid of this thing at this point.
Very dependable and has lasted a long time. Still in great condition. Very low mileage too for and 18 yrs old car.

2002 Xterra, 2wd, 3.3ltr, Been a dependable, reliable, SUV, well built, has room for 5 & gear for 2 and gobs of extra space for cargo. Always draws compliments, and has been a pleasure to own. 135000 miles and regularly maintained, see years of service ahead.
