The 2024 Nissan Titan XD pickup offers good power, comfort, and ability while positioning itself between full-size and heavy-duty trucks. Pricing starts at $54,860.
It was a good idea at the time, when the Titan XD launched for the 2016 model year: Make a pickup truck that can handle more than typical half-ton trucks like the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra, yet isn’t so cumbersome or clunky as heavy-duty, three-quarter-ton trucks like the Ford Super Duty and Ram 2500.
That makes the Titan XD a slightly-heavy-duty truck. The trouble with niches between niches is that they can be either just right, or neither one thing nor the other. Where the XD falls on that spectrum is down to each buyer and their specific needs. The other trouble is that the full-size competition is newer, with fresher technology, and with improved abilities that have now surpassed the Titan XD’s talents.
That said, we still respect the Titan XD’s smooth yet strong V8, easygoing manner, and more-than-adequate capability. Our consumer reviews are predominantly positive as well. This Nissan truck — made in Canton, Mississippi — can handle work situations and weekend jaunts with equal competence.
The regular, full-size, half-ton Nissan Titan is reviewed separately.
Last year’s entry-level S trim has been discontinued. This foreshadows the end of Titan XD completely; 2024 is its final year.
The 2024 Nissan TITAN XD Crew Cab has a starting sticker price of $54,860, with the range-topping TITAN XD Crew Cab Platinum Reserve kicking off at $68,770. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $4,938 to $7,840 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

Comparing the prices of 4-wheel-drive full-size trucks with crew cabs, and skipping over the spartan base trims, we’re looking at prices in the low 50s for the Toyota Tundra and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, or mid-50s for the Ford F-150. The non-XD Nissan Titan starts at around $46K.
Expect to pay something in the mid-50s for heavy-duty rivals like the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and Ford F-250, or mid-to-high 50s for the Ram 2500.
Before buying a new Titan XD truck, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying. The Titan XD’s resale values are decidedly below average.
There’s just one engine in the 2024 Titan XD range, but we think it’s a good one. This strong-yet-refined gasoline V8 makes 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. That would have been class-leading a while back, but the full-size Toyota Tundra has 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.
Overall, we’ve found driving the Titan XD is enjoyable and not especially demanding. The ride quality is smooth whether there’s a load on board or not. Having assistance features like forward collision warning and blind-spot monitoring as standard is another plus. The Titan XD is quite a big vehicle with a large turning circle, so we think the 360-degree camera system (optional in the Pro-4X, standard in the Platinum Reserve) is a useful addition
Four-wheel drive is also standard across the board. The Pro-4X model adds hill descent control and an electronic locking rear differential, along with specialized off-road suspension components from Bilstein, extra under-body protection, and all-terrain tires.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and researching the current collection of full-size trucks, including the Nissan Titan XD.
The Titan XD’s maximum payload is 2,260 pounds. That’s quite a lot, but the Ford F-150 can take 3,325 pounds. It’s a similar story with towing. The XD’s maximum is 11,050 pounds. The Ford F-150, meanwhile, is rated at 14,000 pounds and the Toyota Tundra can pull 12,000 pounds.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) doesn’t provide fuel economy estimates for trucks above the half-ton bracket.
Available only as a Crew Cab, the 2024 Titan XD truck provides spacious accommodations for up to six people. The SV has 3-position bench seats in both rows, with the option of two seats up front. This 5-person arrangement is standard in the PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve versions. We really like the front seats in these trims. They’re exceptionally comfortable.
Rear legroom is generous at 38.5 inches. The rear seat cushions can flip up and the seat backs can fold down, so there’s some versatility. The center console also has a large stowage space beneath the armrest big enough to take a laptop computer.
Following the usual pickup script, the luxurious Platinum Reserve comes with leather upholstery and real wood accents, plus a power-adjustable steering column.
Along with a crew cab body, the Titan XD is offered exclusively with a 6.5-foot bed (78.7 inches). A spray-in bed liner is optional in the SV, standard in the two higher trims.
Every version has a removable and lockable tailgate with a damped opening action. Options here include a 120-volt outlet, LED lighting, and the Utili-track channel system.
The SV comes with 17-inch steel wheels as standard. Alloy wheels are fitted to the Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve, 18-inch and 20-inch respectively. And the Platinum Reserve has running boards.
SV Convenience package
As its name suggests, this is an options bundle for the SV trim. It includes a gooseneck hitch, so buyers of a new Titan XD can access the truck’s maximum towing ability. There are plenty more features as well.
Infotainment system
In particular, the one in the PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve models, since this has a high-resolution 9-inch touchscreen. Wi-Fi and satellite radio are also standard in these trims.
Trailer light check system
Once a trailer is connected completely, drivers can check that all the lights and turn signals are working by standing outside and using buttons on the key fob, or can access the same info inside the cabin. It’s standard across the range.
Wireless Apple CarPlay
Standard in the Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve models. The SV still requires a cable; Android Auto users need one in any trim.
Utili-track system
This setup consists of rails in the bed, along which movable aluminum tie-down points are positioned, enabling the optimum method to secure loads. It’s standard in the Platinum Reserve, optional in the SV and Pro-4X.
Parking sensors
Rear parking sensors are standard with the SV and Pro-4X, with front sensors offered as an option. The Platinum Reserve has them all as standard.
Every new Titan XD truck has a 5.6-liter V8 making a robust 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque when supplied with premium gasoline. This goes through a 9-speed automatic transmission to a standard 4-wheel-drive system with high/low gearing and a transfer case.
The Titan XD’s class-leading bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranties both last five years or 100,000 miles, whichever happens first (including roadside assistance). Most truck manufacturers provide 3-year/36,000-mile warranties, with powertrains covered for five years or 60,000 miles. The Ram HD with a diesel engine has a comparable powertrain warranty of 100,000 miles.
The Titan XD hasn’t been crash-tested by any agencies in the United States. Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and road sign recognition.
The 2024 Nissan TITAN XD Crew Cab is in the middle 26-75% for Cost to Own among all Full-size Pickup Trucks.

Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
Some trucks don’t have driver assistance features as standard, so it’s good to see every 2023 Titan XD fitted with this system that also includes pedestrian detection.
Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
Another standard feature across the 2023 Titan XD range, alerting drivers to vehicles in adjacent lanes or approaching as the truck is being reversed out of a parking space. Rear automatic braking is also standard.
Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection
This 360-degree camera system is optional in the Pro-4X, standard in the Platinum Reserve. The Titan XD is quite a big vehicle with a large turning circle, so this can help when maneuvering.
