Positive Review
Great to drive. I bought it when it first came out. I have the Platinum version. The zero gravity seats are very comfortable. I would recommend.
Critical Review
I purchased a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder S in June of 2023. The Mileage at the time of purchase was around 8300 miles. The dealership I purchased it from (Chevy Dealer) had it sitting on their lot for over 300 days, so I seized that opportunity to get a good deal. After test driving the car, the first issue started, which wasn't mechanic, but rather a bad battery, to which the dealership happily replaced. But up until the beginning of September, the vehicle ran fine and smooth with no issues. Fast forward to the week before 11 September and when the issues started. This is when I first started to notice a slight skip while driving down the highway, it wasn't regular sound that I would hear in a constant manner, just a slight misfire while driving down the highway randomly. After that, the following week, I started to notice that my car would randomly shift into neutral while driving. At first, I thought maybe it was my wallet (as sometimes I set it on the shifter) or my phone sitting nearby, interfering with the electronics in the shifter, but after placing both items away from the shifter entirely, the vehicle continued experiencing the same issue. While driving home on the 9th of September the car engine stalled out on me, forcing me to pull over on the side of the road. From there I placed the vehicle into park restarted the engine. At the time it showed an "Unknown Error" message for the remainder of my trip home. On September 11th, I took my Pathfinder over to the dealership first thing in the morning and dropped it off, sitting just at 15k miles. On the way there, I notice a sudden loss of power while going up hill, and again shifting into neutral while driving. Once at the dealership I explained all the issues above and the technicians took my vehicle back for a while. Once they found the issue, the service rep stated that the issue was from a bad fuel pump, but the downside was that they didn't have any in stock. So being that the car is still under its 3yr/30k mile warranty, the dealership gave me a rental. On the 13th Sept. I was called by Nissan and told that my vehicle was repaired and ready to be picked up. So, I went and picked it up and drove it out with no issues for the moment. On 21 Sept. on my way to work, the Pathfinder began to shift on its own into Neutral at random times and began stalling out while driving down the highway at 65+ mph. Also, while in transit, the vehicle seemed to have a loss of power while going uphill, it felt almost like a backwards jerking motion. Once at work I finally parked, but the car would not shut off, I would hit the start stop button multiple times, but the car would not shut off. I managed to get it to shut off by putting the E-Brake on luckily and from the point I called the dealership and set up an appointment to be dropped off the following day. On 22 Sept. I dropped the car off first thing in the morning, explaining that on the way there the car stalled twice on me while driving down the highway, again forcing me to the side of the road. I also took pictures and video clips of the error codes and messages displayed while the issues were occuring. From there I left while the car was being looked at and around noon, they I called after not hearing anything, and I was told by the service rep that the technician looked at the car and said that the transmission was "having issues" but they were going to go ahead and replace the entire thing. To top all that off, I was also told that Nissan didn't have any rentals they could loan at the time. When I asked if they could set me a rental up with a rental agency, the rep told me that would have to approved by the supervisor and that he would call me when he got back from lunch. They also put my name at the top of the list on their rental list. Being that I work an evening shift, this forced me to go to Enterprise and to rent a vehicle out of pocket so I could travel to and from work. Monday morning, they told me they had a rental available, so I returned the enterprise rental and am currently driving Nissans rental. After barely making into work on time, I called Nissan's Corporate number, and talked to a lower-level consumer affairs rep to file a complaint. After reading around some various forums online, I was able to discover that other people were experiencing the same or similar issues as well with their 2022 Pathfinders. This tells me that there is most likely some kind of defect with certain transmissions, that Nissan has not publicly acknowledged as of yet. On Monday, I had a higher-level consumer affairs person call me from Nissan, to speak with me on the issues I have been experiencing. I told her about having to rent a vehicle on my own dime and she did state that I could be compensated once the repairs were done. While also speaking with her, I told her I no longer wished to have this vehicle anymore as it had two major issues thus far, and for a car to have transmission issues at 15600 miles is never a good sign. I told her my wife and I are looking to expand our family, and this was the original reason I purchased the vehicle. I explained to her that I did not trust the Pathfinder to not have major issues down the road and would not want me wife and child stuck on the side of the road because of the other potential defects that may emerge in the future. So, the rep put a request in for me to see if Nissan would purchase the vehicle back from me a good market value and was told today 28 Sept. that Nissan declined to do so but would fix everything while still under warranty. My opinion is this, if Nissan is confident that once these transmission issues are repaired and that there won't be any other major issues, why is it they won't buy the car or even provide me with an extended warranty? Before the pathfinder I owned a 2014 Frontier, and it ran fine all the way up to when I traded it in for the pathfinder (to which at this point I regret). I am not claiming that all Nissan's vehicles are bad, but I am saying the 2022 Pathfinders are. I'm also not claiming that if you own this vehicle, you will have these issues, but I believe in the future you're going to see many more major issues come to light as these Pathfinders age. Nissan's resolve with these issues for me personally, is enough to make me go with another auto manufacturer for ALL future vehicle purchases.

great vehicle that fits our family and family needs from kid's sports/games to bringing supplies for DIY home projects home
We upgraded in August of 2024 to our 2023 Pathfinder. We replaced a 2006 Expedition. So it was a huge upgrade for us in ride quality and all the amenities that the Platinum model has. Some of them in my opinion are overkill. It rides and handles like a luxury car.
I love my new Nissan. I love all the little extras and the ease of using the newest technology. The team I worked with was great. I do it all over again. I am completely enjoying this car!
engine performance
electronic transmission
Very nice vehicle. Good pick up and gas mileage. I am not sure how much of a fan I am of the electronic transmission but otherwise good ride
Looks, power, ride
Premium fuel required
Picked up a pre-owned 2023 Pathfinder with just over 10,000 miles. Love the Rock Creek package. Looks very sharp especially in black. Truck has a one inch lift over standard Pathfinder which makes a surprisingly big difference. Wide ATV tires and rims look great and add to handling on and off road. Very smooth highway ride which surprised me considering the beefy tire treads. Interior is very nice and roomy. Engine is a power upgrade with 295 HP and 280 torque yet has averaged 25 mpg which was nice surprise. Only driven 1000 miles so so it’s early to judge maintenance but so far zero issues. Only downside is vehicle requires premium fuel. Overall love this truck very happy with purchase.
exterior design, build quality, drive train, comfort
too much shiny black plastic on dash
I've had my '24 Platinum for about a month and I've been very pleased with it. It's a solidly built truck with an excellent drive train that's silky smooth, quiet and has been getting 21 mpg around town. The exterior design, in my opinion is one of the best in the 3 row suv segment and the minimalist interior design is straight forward with all the tech you need and has much appreciated knobs and buttons for key functions, HVAC, stereo, etc. The Bose stereo is not the best in class but it's very good, far better than any base system. One of the key reasons I opted for the Pathfinder over the competition was head and leg room. I'm 6'-6" and I am very comfortable behind the wheel. Even with the sunroof I have several inches of head room to spare and can get in and out of it without ducking. Other major pluses for the Platinum are the premium features like its Pro Pilot assist, head up display, cooled front seats and 360 camera all of which I use on a very regular basis. The 360 camera especially comes in very handy and is easily accessed with the push of a button on the dash. In fact the Platinum trim essentially has all the key amenities found in the top trim of the $70,000 Infiniti QX-60 Autograph minus the fancy interior. If you're in the market for a 3 row SUV, the Nissan Pathfinder is definitely worth a serious look.
I bought the 2024 SL model at the end of Oct 2023. It has 6300 miles on it and it already has gone through "MOTOR MOUNT" replacement. The car was shaken when stopped and Idle. Dealer found it had "Broken bottom MOTOR MOUNT" it was at the dealer for 5 days. It runs OK but not the same as used to, I can still detect some vibration. I will give is a few more weeks to see if the MOTOR MOUNT is actually the real issue of the vibration and rough idle. I have been very disappointed with NISSAN quality.
Very pleased! Lots of room. Has pick up and go when needed. Beautiful interior. Love the height for getting and out of vehicle. Rides smooth and quiet!
