Positive Review

"why would anyone put down this car?"

sure the car has range limitations, but you know that when you buy it. I also own a tesla model 3 dual motor long range, so I get the range issues, but the Leaf is a perfectly good car. Maybe not the most stylish vehicle on the road, but again, I think you know that when you buy it. We've had no issues with the car. It is fun to drive (OK, so not as much fun as my Model 3, but it cost 1/3 less). One thing it excels at, way better than the tesla, is the 360 view makes parking so much easier--I've scraped my wheels too many times in my Model 3 and have sent Elon more than one message to catch up with Nissan in this regard. The blind spot monitor on the Leaf is far superior to the Tesla, and the e-pedal is better than the Tesla as well. Take the car for a drive and decide yourself.

Critical Review

"Not ready for Prime Time"

If this vehicle truly got 150 miles per full charge, as advertised, there wouldn't be a problem. It gets far less, (60-70%) and on any trip where you have to charge it to get home it starts gulping electricity, because of poor battery thermal management, a problem Nissan knows about but downplays. They (corporate) are now telling me that my occasional 200 mile trips are not in the design plan. Worst example: It took me 7 hours to go 94 miles, limping from charging station to charging station where even after 1/2 hour charge I could only get 7%-15% battery charge--barely enough to get to the next charging station, let alone home. THE RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE 0/5 STARS IF ALLOWED

2019 Leaf
Pros

No maintenance compare to gasoline car

Cons

Short mile range

My fist EV for almost 5 years, great city car, no problems whatsoever except some recalls that were fixed and feel like faster tire wear than with previous gas cars. No maintenance save a lot of money but…. Would have give it 5 star if the range would be greater and more reliable. After 5 years I get only 135 mi on full charge and even lower in winter with using the heater. Also wish it would be a little more leg room for the passenger side.

Almost perfect, inexpensive EV

We are retired and drive about 4,000 miles a year. Fantastic car for city driving or road trips of 150 miles. Love the e pedal, lane assist, garage 240 volt charging. I enjoy plugging in to refuel at home and avoiding stinky, air polluting, global warming gas stations! Very quick and fun to drive. Range has been up to 280 miles. Cons: few CHAdeMO stations and when found..inoperable. What is Nissan thinking by keeping these plugs? Center arm rest too small.

Range less than advertised.

I love the torque and milage but I would not buy another. I commute 40 miles per day but if I have to make an extra 40 mile detour I’m not sure I will make it back home. The battery is unstable. If you drive 70 miles/hour for 30 minutes the charge rapidly begins to deplete. I have almost been stranded twice when the unstable battery started rapidly discharging.

Don't buy this vehicle
Pros

No Pro's of any kind

Cons

Beyond cheap, mechanical, transmission

Terrible Experience, Terrible Resale Value, Just a complete pile of junk. Nothing but continuing problems. Rattles of glory plastic parts. Mechanical problems, to everything is cheap. Bought this car pre-owned for a bit higher on the price tag because of this car shortage. "Worst mistake ever" I'm stuck with this stupid car until the loan can get paid down some more. Resale Value is just not there!

Horn already not working

No liquid cooling for battery like the Bolt. And my two-tone horn when out leaving only the low tone left. sounds like a boat now. Hopefully will be fixed under warranty but a horn should NEVER go out on a car. :(

SL Plus Leaf

A pleasure to drive. Has all the safety features of 2020. The e-pedal is my #1 feature of this car. We love the convince of charging at home. We would defiantly buy this car again...

Our first EV is a Home Run!
Pros

Reliability, comfort cutting edge technology.

Cons

Trunk well with sound system bump in it-ONLY issue

We have the SV LEAF Plus. It has all the bells and whistles and safety features one needs. Needless to say, with gas between four and five dollars a gallon, and our solar charging unit, we are so happy plugging it in and never going to a gas station. Maintenance has been almost nonexistent, the car is a pleasure to drive, nothing has gone wrong and the mileage is exceptional for the cost! Our charge indicates well over 200 miles during the summer and most of the shoulder seasons, but it does take a hit in MAINE’s sub freezing winter temperatures. Fortunately, we still get a lot of sun in the winter. If you’re looking for a solid, economical and fun to drive car this is it. Why spend all that money for a Tesla!
