Positive Review
I’ve always owned full size Chevy or Dodge p/ups. Now that kids are moved on it was time to downsize. I needed to still have the pulling power to haul a trailer and car, as well as 4wd (not AWD) capabilities. Looked at the Honda (no 4wd) and Toyota (less towing, HP and MPG) and settled for the Nissan. I'm very happy with my choice. Recently towed a Boxter hour and half and couldn't have been happier. The truck towed without hesitation. The power was more than adequate and the ride was great. I hear complaints of fuel mileage but coming from a full size I'm used to it. Currently averaging 17 around town but reached 24 on my last highway trip to Charlotte. My biggest complaint is the transmission is tuned (for mpg) to shift too quickly at around 40 mph. The tranny in that speed and rpm range shifts up and down constantly. I’ve kind of learned how to control throttle and RPM's to limit this but can be annoying when driving over hills in that speed range. This was not a problem while towing as I locked out the overdrive. If my wife drove manual I would have opted for the 6 speed. Ride is stiff but yet compliant. 4wd works great. Very smooth in its engagement and driving feel. Overall I'm really happy with my 2014 Frontier.
Critical Review
Absolutely loved this truck and fit and design is great but the reliability is horrid. As soon as my warranty was up the problems hit the fan. I used my truck for work with lots of highway miles. I average about 25k a year. Here are a list of problems and prices that happened once the warranty ran out: Gas tank sensor causing the gas gauge to not work. Nissan does not feel that this is an issue running out of gas in the middle of nowhere. P&L=$350.00 Rear end vent not working causing the seals to leak become bad causing gear oil to leak into the brakes ruining pads and running rear dry destroys gears and bearings. Look online as this is a common problem also but not covered as I had too many miles. P&L=$1700.00 Vacuum sensor for gas tank causing check engine light. And yes another common problem. $275.00 Tire sensors stopped working causing tire light to stay on. Nissan wanted $500 just for parts not including resetting the computer. Here is the biggie! There is an admitted engineering defect in the trucks radiator where it splits open inside mixing the engine coolant and the trans fluid causing the transmission to self destruct. Nissan said that they will extend the warranty but each time they did I was over. If you get this repair done at the dealer you are looking at least $6500.00 repair. Loved the truck and design but with what I have experienced I will never ever purchase another Nissan again and do not have the heart to sell or trade in this truck as that is not the right thing to do. I may part it out and cut my losses.

I have a 2017 Nissan Frontier Pickup 4X4. The Mileage just turned 100,000 and I think it is ready for the next 100,000! I bought the truck as an "off lease" pickup at a dealer (Enterprise). I have nothing but good things to say about the pickup. I bought the pick up with about 30,000 miles on it. The previous owner had used the truck as a work truck and it was very well taken care of. The truck performs well on 'back roads'. I live high in the Colorado mountains, so we get lots of snow, on average. I would recommend the pickup without hesitation.
The paint is not the best Truck runs just fine nothing wrong with it , Approx 130k miles tires ok has always been serviced when needed. Interior is just fine no holes or tears in any upholstery and it is clean.
One owner, garage kept, tonneau cover. Good condition, 86000 miles. Minor dents by driver door handle.
Great truck, tree fell on it. Need body work and new driver door, windshield/driver window . Didn't touch anything under hood. Only 77,000 miles. Asking 12,000
Good Build Quality, Reliable, Decent Power
Out dated, lots of plastics interior
Interior is old and outdated, but functional. I purchased a truck new 2017 and have had no problems so far. The 4.0L is has enough power to tow within its weight limit with no problems. The engine and transmission work well together but sometimes on hills O/D and 3rd gear should be used so that transmission doesn’t shift high and lower gear so often.
Awesome power, good mileage, comfortable, rugged.
None!
Hi. This is my 2nd Frontier, I had a 2015 SV Crew Cab. Now I have a Pro 4X. I love all the features and the increased power of the 3.8 V6. I was lucky to find a Certified Pre-Owned with only 16,600 miles! I know people are saying the truck is long in tooth, but I wanted a simple design that works and this clearly works. This Pro 4X rides so much better than the 2020 Ranger FX4 I traded in. Much easier to see out of. Power is better and mileage is nearly the same! I paid $34,700 for it and it's worth every penny!
