Positive Review
The 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab was a gift from my father who actually drove the car from Albuquerque NM to Anaheim California. This was I believe 2010. I was in love with this car. Truck had 60K miles driven at that point. I never had one instance of car trouble for the longest time. After 100K miles I saw the "service engine light" and the truck was still smooth as silk. On 6/3/2015 I took it to Jiffy Lube for my oil change etc..The next day my Truck stopped out of nowhere! $2000 fix starting with the timing chain, water pump, fuel filer, a few hoses..I now have a brand new Nissan Frontier for the next 10 years!
Critical Review
Bought this truck with 68780 miles. First major issue started at 78000 miles. Truck has been through four starters, three distributors, two batteries, valve cover gasket failures, AC return line leak, knock sensor, mass air-flow sensor, three sets triple platinum spark plugs, new wires, three out of four catalytic converters, and three out of four O2 sensors. Has cost almost $7000 in maintenance and repairs in the three 1/2 years I've owned it. Driven around 10000 miles per year.

Bought a 1999 regular cab 90 days ago with 56000 on the odometer. 2nd owner. Let's start with styling. I absolutely love the body style to include the shape of the front end. Absolutely beautiful. I also like the fact that in the box it has notches to put 2X4's to keep small items in place. Bench seat I like and it is all stock right down to cassette. Crank windows, sliding rear window, and surprisingly comfortable for a guy who is 6'1. It seats 3 which equates to 2 adults and a child in the middle. Being an automatic no problem hauling a child. Has built in drink holder for 2 which is nice. I am able to fit small hand tools behind seat just incase. Easy to change oil on and old enough to do routine maintenance on without a problem. I do not see many of these 1st generation Nissans in my area but the few small parts I have needed have been readily available. Acceleration is surprisingly good and this little truck drives like a car. Easy to maneuver into any parking lot. I would highly recommend. You will not win any Indy 500 races, but for style, reliability, simplicity, and pricing, you cannot go wrong.
One owner, has been well maintained. If something needed fixed it was fixed. Recently (3/6/23) new distributor, plugs and wires. Tires less than 10K with brand new spare. Transmission replaced 18 months ago. Battery 14 months old. Complete front brakes one year ago, new master window switch last winter. Have 20 yrs of receipts from oil changes to exhaust. Has running boards, window vents, dash mat, matching topper and new sun visors. I bought it new and has been my go anywhere vehicle for road trips, to/from work, mileage is highway miles.
i loved my 01 frontier crew cab. comfortable, dependable and great to drive. this truck is easy to work on and starts every time you need it. the only thing that i wish it did better was get a little better gas mileage but its the same as the other mid sized v6 trucks so its not a negative, just something i wish. great looking truck too
Work truck
Everything works
Good truck for everything hauling tAke it fishing do everything and anything great truck to have looked to get another
Fun to drive, good at towing, bulletproof engine.
Slow, bad gas mileage, not exactly luxurious.
I bought mine a couple months ago. The previous owner used it as a farm truck, so it had seen some serious wear and tear. The gas tank has trouble filling, the high-pressure power steering hose gave out, the brake calipers had a leak, and she had trouble starting, but the engine kept going no matter what. This little truck is almost unkillable. The stock sound system isn't great, but it's easy to swap out, and the ride is excellent. Fuel economy is a pretty consistent 16 mpg in the city, but it can go up to about 20 mpg on the highway. As far as acceleration, it's pretty quick out of the gate but struggles a little at higher speeds. Lots of low-end torque. It's great for hauling, and it can reliably tow a much larger truck as far as you need to. I managed to tow my buddy's '09 Silverado with no issues. It is a bit small, so if you're above 6' you might have some trouble getting in and out, but it sits pretty high off the ground. The seats are comfortable, but it doesn't have too many features. This is a truck that excels at being a truck, and doesn't really try to do anything else. If you're just looking for a reliable utility vehicle, it's a great value for the money. If you want comfort, good fuel economy, and all the bells and whistles, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
Reliable
Low power and poor fuel milage
This truck is part of our family. Bought it about 17 years ago from the Nissan dealership I worked for at the time. It’s been nothing but reliable since I’ve owned it. I drove a 22 Frontier last week and it was nice but I’ll take my basic truck any day.
