Best Resale Value Awards 2021 Vert Color RGB 99×142It takes a seriously good vehicle to dethrone the Honda Odyssey as the top minivan in our annual KBB Best Buy Awards, and the Toyota Sienna has done just that. In fact, the 2021 Toyota Sienna — all-new for 2021 and available only as a gas/electric hybrid — also has claimed the title of top Minivan in our 2021 KBB Best Resale Value Awards.

How does the Sienna do it?

Simple: Toyota’s minivan represents a superb blend of practicality and efficiency, and it’s also backed by the company’s reputation for dependability. And while it is an all-new vehicle for 2021, consider this: The Indiana-built Sienna has been a minivan on the podium in our annual KBB Best Resale Value Awards for four years in a row.

From our Expert Review: “The all-new Toyota Sienna feels pretty light on its feet thanks to its hybrid powertrain and all-wheel-drive capability. The 243 horsepower isn’t as robust as the respective 280 and 287 horses from its respective Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica rivals with their V6s. However, the instant torque from the electric motors compensates, giving the Sienna a snappy feel right off the line. And while the competition boasts V6 power, the Sienna far surpasses both by offering 36 mpg combined.”

Continued: “While the power is good and the fuel economy exceptional, those who want the smoothness of a V6 and a multi-gear torque converter transmission will have to shop elsewhere. The hybrid 4-cylinder powertrain with its CVT is the only engine offered. It works well but is slightly noisier than the other minivans in its class.”

Safety Sense 2.0, the Sienna’s standard safety suite, includes automatic emergency braking, active cruise control, and a lane-departure alert.
