Positive Review
I have a new, just out of the showroom, 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander ES AWC. It's a great car in a lot of areas just as your own KBB reviewer stated in his extensive review. I agree with everything he pointed out about this newly redesigned car from Mitsubishi. But, as an owner, I came across one really concerning problem right after I took possession. With highway speeds the front hood violently lifts and flexes from the wind. When it first happened I thought the hood wasn't closed properly. I pulled off the highway to check it out but it was tightly closed. It really felt like the hood was going to fly up while I was driving. I guess that's not going to happen because this 'newly redesigned' vehicle must have been wind tunnel tested, right? I don't know what the problem is, but I do know it's mighty distracting driving down the road watching the hood of your car jumping up and down. I've been in touch with Mitsubishi and they are 'working on a fix'. If you don't drive at highway speeds and you live where the wind never exceeds 15 miles per hour you'll be in love with this car. As for me, I live in a windy area and drive the 75 mph interstate every time I leave the house. I'll be in a love/hate relationship with my Mitsu until a recall comes through.

I love my outlander, after 3 years and 40k miles on it i cant be happier with my purchase haven't done anything but service and still feels like brand new never thought id own a mitsu but the looks of the car and interior sold me.
I really wanted to like this Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, there are so many flaws in this vehicle it makes it a complete flop unless you have a small family living in a warm urban area and don’t travel more than 20 miles a day. let me be specific about my complaints - 1. The connectivity, which is a large portion of their software pkg is horrible. It can never find your car. It will never connect to your car to start it to lock it , to give you your info, etc. it is just that the telemetry is horrible. 2, the heater does not work whatsoever in cold weather, only when using the petrol engine function can you get some sort of warm air eventually, but it will take a while. 3. Battery - If if if it can be used ( YES - they shutoff your EV, charging and save mode when it’s cold) is only 30% despite getting a full charge. Research why Mitsubishi Canada is being sued, Mits did not insulate the battery or offer any remedy so its useless in cold weather. 3. All cruise control is disabled in the cold. Your car may not have one speck of snow, rain, ice on it and the road is dry/clear but you cannot use cruise control at all. I can understand disabling a lot of the adapted cruise control functions like the steering lane control, the following distance of the car in front of you, etc. but to not have the option to just use regular old standard transmission cruise control when needed is abysmal. 4. No CHademo adapter - good luck finding charging stations. 5. Car locks itself after 30 seconds with key inside, using second keyfob is useless - must use 2nd key mechanical key to open. 6. Door panels, like much of the interior, is plasticky and flimsy. When you close the door, it feels like the panel will come off. 7. Squirrelly as heck on snow, the rear drive with alleged saw is a joke - car is all over the place and I won’t take it on any slick roads, my E-bike performs better. 8. Suspension is stiff for what is supposed to be an upscale suv/wagon, not smooth/pleasant at all. 9. Audio system is buggy and weak, if your kids are making any noise, you can’t hear the music- very weak power. I’ll stop here. There are many more minor things that I could ramble on about but let me tell you this, it’s is my third Mitsubishi. I’m an early adopter, Japanese person, who really wanted to support them but they absolutely missed the mark and are so extremely overpriced for this vehicle I couldn’t urge you to avoid it enough unless you: live in the south, need a third row and don’t commute more than 20 miles to use its EV function. I have three vehicles, I’m a “car guy” and this is by far one of the worst vehicles I’ve ever driven and I really wanted to like it. I am glad I only leased it for two years, it is 23 months too long for me. So many better PHEV’s on the market that are a much better value
The vehicle had a 2-year free subscription for a remote-starting app. After two years, you have to purchase the subscription in order to start the vehicle remotely. No other options. I find that unacceptable.
Got 2024 outlander SEL premium few days back. It has good extended warranty. Shock absorbers are so so and you can feel the bumps on i-75 driving South. Acceleration with the 181 horsepower is little subpar for highway pickup. Transmission in snow option causes poor acceleration. Dedicated radio button not there and if the information screen freezes you cannot listen to radio. It happened when the Bluetooth got stuck with incoming call message which I was not able to decline. LCD screen and information screen both got Frozen and I kept on getting message for incoming call which was not there. Have to restart both the SUV and my cell phone to get rid off that issue. Hopefully it will not happen again. Heated steering wheel and heated seats can be lukewarm. Need to be warmer. Second row space is good for two adults but the third row is only for little children. Cargo space can be very limited with 3rd row seat upright but sufficient when the third row seat is folded. Unfortunately there is no spare tire and that is a very worrisome pattern being followed by many car makers. Mitsubishi only gives you a small repair kit in case of a flat tire which is not sufficient. SUV does come with five year roadside assistance. But who wants to wait for a tow truck to come on a cold night on a busy highway?! Highway mileage as posted is not accurate and I'm not getting more than 22 to 23 miles per gallon. There is no universal garage door opener in the vehicle and the option is only available in the app which will cost $$$ after complimentary 2 year period. Mitsubishi connect app lets you start the car remotely but you cannot change the temperature inside the car. At least that option is not available in Android connect app. Remote car start option should have been on the key fob but not. Wireless Android auto option not available but wireless carplay given. Limited storage space and the provided information booklet doesn't even fit in the glove box. Have to put it under the seat. Rear view visibility is poor if the 2 headrest attached to the third row which are too long and cannot be folded. Will update this review after a few more days of driving.
The car is great on gas, great on space, good quality material, smooth engine and those Mitsubishi can run forever.
I have had my 2022 Outlander SE for a little over 2 years and still love it! Coming from a 2019 Pathfinder, it feels less bulky and sportier than the Pathfinder. When shopping for these, I was presented an SEL with a "gray" (looked more white) interior and this SE with a black interior. With 3 kids, I opted for the SE. Positives: - Stylish and modern interior and exterior - Love the wheels! - MiPilot system is fantastic - Large cargo area with 3rd row folded - 3rd row, though small, is a perfect clubhouse for my young kids - Fuel effeciency - AWD system is amazing - 10 year/100k mile warranty! Negatives: - Runs through rear brakes VERY quickly. Replaced pads at 30k miles - Radio can sometimes lock up and act funny requiring a restart - Take offs can be somewhat slow and take a second for that CVT to move - Third row space is very limited - While nice looking, I find the seats to be a little uncomfortable in the front - No remote start on fob. After intro period of app, it costs $228/year for remote start from the app I still love my SE and will likely keep it for a good while. After 2 years and 35k miles, she's still a great car.
Comfort, Great mileage for SUV, Reliable,
3rd seat is small
This is our 3rd Mitsubishi and we love the 2022 Outlander in the new body style. Previously owned two Monteros that were great family cars, so decided to give the Outlander a try. Needed a larger SUV for our family including two Labradors who sit comfortably together on the third row seat. It's billed as a 7-passenger vehicle; like so many other SUVs, the 3rd row doesn't have leg room for anyone except small kids. That said, the front and middle rows are roomy and very comfortable for long rides. When loading up at the furniture store, an employee asked us where we got the "transformer" car, because it's so flexible and can be arranged any number of ways to accommodate cargo. The interior styling is far above what I expected and the audio system is great, too. Has been very reliable since we got it 2 1/2 years ago. Yes, as some others said, there are a few times when I wish I could "punch the gas" to accelerate in a merge situation, but you just have to give yourself more room -- it's to be expected with the type of engine we knew we were buying. Overall I would buy this again and recommend wholeheartedly.
