Positive Review
We bought this car new in 2003 b/c my wife was having our first child. I inherited it from her a few years later. It's easy to drive, the layout/instrument panel is straight forward, and the ride is very comfortable. We've kept it maintained per manf recommendations and it has never let us down. This car even has heated leather seats (unheard of for the class back in 03). As far as cons, it could use more torque (only has 135 lb ft), better mpg (the best I ever get is 24 mpg). And the timing belt interval is short, has to be changed every 60k miles. I recommend this car and Mitsubishi overall.
Critical Review

I’ve put so many miles on this car. She’s really been a trooper! After almost 300,000 miles, we’ll be parting ways due to suspension issues. No problems under the hood, no leaks, NEVER left me on the side of the road. I would drive this car another 200,000 if I could do the work myself. I’ve decided to trade her in for a model 15 years younger. Gonna miss her though.
Cheap and reliable to own.
Lacks power. Top speed is just over 100mph. Oops
The Mitsubishi has been an extremely reliable car for my wife and I for the last 3 years. I’m a mechanic and have done virtually nothing to the vehicle outside of regular maintenance . Tuneup, brakes, LOFs. The car is so light weight the tires will dry rot before they wear out.
Fun to drive
Quiet
A beautiful car with good interior and it is very dependable doesn't use oil and I would recommend it
Reliable. Easy to repair. Comfortable.
The “chrome” inside was too reflective.
Sound that came w the car was spectacular. It ran strong. Not until about 200000 miles did parts start needing to be replaced other than typical belts. Easy and cost effective to repair. No rattles. Taught 3 kids to drive in it. Had it 15 years and loved it. It was totaled last night. Id buy it again. The best car ive ever owned.
Reliable, styling ages well, good value
needs more torque, only 24 mpg, t-belt interval

Very comfortable & excellent buy.
Hope gas mileage is better in newer models
Definitely recommend & would buy another Outlander. Until this winter, never had a breakdown. Was probably my fault because I didn't realize car needed to radiator checked & by the time I realized it, it was too late. As long as I had regular oil changes & mileage maintenances done, my car performed excellently.
Dependable; cup holder; A/C Heat
CD player
Bought this car new, and its reliability is amazing. Outside of normal maintenance, only two trips into shop. Spouse will now get while newer vehicle for me. But difficult to find one I can depend on. Crazy as it sounds, the round A/C vents are the best feature ever. Smooth easy operation without the "oops stuck again" feature of the slide ones. Important when driving. CD player did go early on, but not a CD person anyway. To me, driving around with little ones, having a car start and go when I get in...dependable, that's what counts.
Handling, AWD, visibility, cargo capacity, styling
MPG could be better today, dealer network limited
This Mitsubishi Outlander with AWD, has been great. Reliable, comfortable both highway and city, lots of interior space, very flexible cargo capacity, small footprint, easy to handle, shorter length good for tight parking spaces. Not too high, not too low. Visibility on the road is excellent. Has not been expensive to maintain; very economical. MPG about 23 mpg avg. No major repair surprises, despite the high miles (90% highway). AWD is excellent on unpaved and winter roads, even deep snow, slush, ice. Interior is quite basic, but that may be good - don't have to be timid about loading it up. Dash controls are logical and easy. Wish they still made this body style.
