Positive Review

"Owned for 10 years"

I bought this vehicle (2004)with approx. 35,000 miles in May 2005. I have had several opportunities to trade up, and have chosen to keep it because of the dependability. I just love this rig. I have taken care of this vehicle, and have kept up on necessary maintenance, which has no doubt led to the success and trouble free driving with this Montero. I have only had one problem on the road, a Serpentine belt went on the freeway. In 10 years!! Otherwise, it's ran like a dream and is still going strong. I have chosen not to take it off road for recreational purposes, only necessary off road driving. I have never, and I repeat never, been stuck in mud or snow in this SUV. The deepest snow measuring approximately 18 inches, and it plowed right through it not skipping a beat. Plenty of traction. On the freeway, it has enough get up and go to get the job done in a hurry if needed. Kind of rides like a truck. There has always been a power steering noise when turning, like a whining, but it has never affected the steering and I just got used to it over the years. I like that it really doesn't have any blind spots like a lot of the newer SUV's, and has a roomy interior. The cargo area is very adequate for just about anything you would need it for. The seats fold down to reveal an area that is about as large as a small truck bed. I fit a loveseat couch in perfectly to transport with room to spare. As far as cons for this rig, I would have to say that Mitsubishi could have paid a little more attention to the road noise and gas mileage. But, after all, it is AWD and 4x4 and I knew it would take more gas than some of the smaller and lighter SUV's. All in all, I wish Mitsubishi would have continued this line because I am about to invest in another new vehicle (not because I have to, mind you) and if there was another SUV as good as this Montero Sport, you bet I would buy another. Its 10+ years old and still runs great. Definitely has been money well invested, and I have never been sorry I purchased it.

"Great driving SUV"

This 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport runs very well. Interior is in great shape. Engine runs like a top. Great acceleration. The exterior has a few dings and scratches. I've taken very good care of the car so it is in wonderful shape inside and drives great.

Good worn out vehicle.
Pros

Decent gas mileage, good quality, reliable.

Cons

Clear coat is peeling badly and can be hard to work on such as changing spark plugs.

My dad bought me one about 4 years ago for my first car. It has diffaintly been abused by previous owners. Has 164,000 miles currently and transmission slips a little sometimes when shifting but other than that just normal maintenance it's been a good running reliable first car for it had been abused and worn out. Only broke down once so far and that was because the starter went bad.

The best vehicle ever. I've owned since 2004.
Pros

Well built, comfortable and dependable.

Cons

No cons. 17 yrs & 204k miles still going strong.

204k miles and still going strong. Great heat and air. Comfortable ride and really good gas mileage. Great paint job still shines. Very low maintenance and great dependability. Pulls well and all wheel drive is smooth riding on highway.

About my Montero sport
Pros

Nice running vehicle

Cons

Uses some oil

I've had my Montero for about 4years and it has been a very good vehicle. I've taken it on a 3,500 mile trip in 8 days and it was great. It uses a little oil but not a big deal. Had the normal maintenance done to it regularly.

Very reliable! Great truck
Pros

Reliability, room, tough, and cheap maintenance

Cons

Power could be better and comfort otherwise none!

I bought this In Utah wasn’t sure about it never had a as Mitsubishi it needed maintained at first so I did it bc the last owner literally done nothing! I ended up moving to Michigan and spring a sno Storm no problems! Plowed right through it all made the 2,000 miles trip easy I still own it with just regular maintenance for an 02 ac still ice cold great heater quiet the fuel mileage I see ppl complaining but I don’t think it really is considering especially AWD and 4X4 I think it’s excellent on fuel! I didn’t know about these before but I’m so glad I bought it! Great deal I’m very happy with it and will be sad and lost when it goes! Good room only thing seat not very comfortable especially on long trips. It’s Been cost to cost several times I love this truck and will not sell!!!
