"Where do these reviewers come from?"
I've read just about every review available for the '14 Mirage. If I weren't a Libertarian, I'd insist on a law that says "if you don't own the car, you can't review the car". Honestly, most of the professional car reviewers would never buy ANY vehicle under $15,000. Many haven't even DRIVEN this car, but they seem to know that The Spark or Fiesta or some other car is a better value. And why do reviewers only compare listed retail prices of cars? I've only seen ONE review that even mentions that Mitsubishi has a $1000 rebate on the Mirage. Nobody has mentioned that some dealers are offering additional discounts of $1000 or more. I just bought a 2014 Mirage DE with 5-speed and no options for $11,350 out-the-door price. The only thing that number does not include is state tax and registration. I bought the car out of state, so I paid MD state tax when I registered the car. Try getting a Chevy Spark for $11,350. Won't happen. Oh, but the Spark is so much more fun to drive. Yes, it's a little more fun to drive. So was my RX7, my Toyota MR2, my Miata, my Cadillac STS and my BMW 740i. But I didn't buy this car for "fun to drive". I bought it because it's cheap, gets super good gas mileage, can transport 2 adults and 3 children, and has a super warranty. Some observations: (1.) I think it looks nice. Cute. So many reviewers roll their eyes and think they have transported back to the 1980s. Not so. It's a cute little car. (2.) It costs thousands less than the cars the reviewers say "cost about the same". In my case, and I got a very good deal, about $3000 less. I can take my wife and 3 dogs to McDonalds for cheeseburgers once a week for six years on $3000. All I have to do is say the word "cheeseburger" and all the dogs start barking and run to the door - most fun they have all week. I have traded a little bit of driving fun for 300 trips to McDonalds. And you know what? My dogs don't care that the back seat of the Mirage is flat. (3.) Extraordinary Warranty. 5 Year bumper to bumper warranty. Beats the Spark's 3 year. 10 year powertrain warranty compared to Spark's 5 year. (4.) better gas mileage (5.) seats 5 instead of 4 (6.) Real world price is a couple grand less =========================== The first thing I did when I bought this car was drive it 600 miles. I got over 48 mpg for the trip. Mid 30-s in the mountains, around 50 on the freeways. I also own a 2012 Prius and it only gets about 2 mpg higher.============== Speaking of Prius (which I love), the price for a base Prius II is around $23 or $24k. That's TWICE as much as the Mirage. ============ It is ABOUT TIME that somebody came out with a 40+ mpg car that can be purchased below $12,000, has a nice complement of standard equipment, and has an excellent warranty. ============= And for the record, I do think it is fun to drive. And I CAN drive up a steep mountain at 70 mph. And I don't think the steering is funny. I do think the clutch is a bit odd, but I got accustomed to it in about 5 minutes. ================ Bottom line, if you don't have a lot of cash, want great gas mileage and a great warranty, buy this car. And if you can afford to spend a few thousand extra for the Spark, buy the Mirage and take your dogs out for a treat....many, many times.

"Cheaply made but reliable"
Car is compact and was a very good price brand new. Nothing spectacular about this car other than it is reliable. Don't have a passenger visor mirror, no passenger arm rest, or a middle compartment between the driver and passenger seat. The noise from outside the car is pretty loud, I'm assuming because of how cheaply the car is made and lack of insulation. Doesn't hold it's value.

Everything I need and nothing that I don't

I bought this lightly used. I love its simplicity. It's the most reliable car I have ever had and it costs just over $20 to fill the tank. Ive now owned it 6 years it still runs exceptional. If I were to sell it, it would be to get a newer mirage when I still can. I laugh at people who spend twice as much for less reliable and less practicicle vehicles. It also does fine in the winter as long as you not on real backroads. I also like how the back seats fold down giving a surprising amount of space. If you want bells and whistles spend more. I'll stay with my mirage.

Great little car

I have a 2018 Mitsubishi mirage ES hatchback automatic. This was my first car purchase back in 2019, used for a little over $10k. It was a great car, and I didn't put much miles on it as even here in 2025 it only has 41k today when it starts at 10k back when I purchased it. It's a tiny bit rough sometimes, and a bit slow when pushing on the petal, but if you don't mind a slow cruise it's great. The replacement tires are cheap at a 14 or 15 inch rim, costing only $200 if you find a really good clearance deal at Walmart for all 4, or about 350 when I went to discount tire once. It does have a weird quirk that might be specific to my vehicle, when going over 60mog on the highway, and specifically if the wind is blowing against the driver's side, the passenger side front wheel squeals. But only in the literally very specific scenario does it do that and it's done it since I first purchased it. I've taken it to a shop before and they have no idea what could be causing it. The downsides is my specific vehicle doesn't have automatic lights, nor did it have cruise control weirdly enough, things I wasn't really looking for when I bought the car. But I love it, it's still holding strong and has given me no problems so far. The hatchback with the seats down hold a ton more than you could think. I'm about to get an EV so I'll have to kiss my girl goodbye when my brother probably buys it.

I bought my mirage a month ago and so far I’m pretty happy with it! It moves me from A to B and sometimes to C without a problem! That small engine is powerfully enough since we are not on a race truck but on a city with traffic and all types of drivers ! Economical ride nice features on the LE and very simple car!

I bought my Mitsubishi mirage about 7 months ago. It's very cute. I bought brand new off the lot. I was nervous cause car is tiny. I got the color I call road way yellow. I'm glad cause other cars and diesels can see me!!! I wish it were hot pink!!! I have put snow tires on the car. And it has been pretty impressive in the rain and snow. Just grips through. My only complaint is the car wiggles in the wind. Once you get used to it. It's fine. It does this with both all seasons and snow tires. I would not drive this little car in a snow or wind storm. The warranty is really good. I have reverse camera. It has sensor, rain sensor for wipers and an alarm system. This thing is loaded. The hatch back is great. I can fold the seats down. Tilted steering wheel. Cruise control. Has more room than it looks. It has the 3rd seatbelt so option to drive for a taxi company. Overall I am extremely impressed. I actually love this car. It's extremely great on gas. Oh my dog loves the car too!!! I'm very happy that I purchased this car. Best buy I ever did. Very much worth the price and warranty. Very economical reliable comfortable car.

Transmission Issues are icing on the cake

This was my first car. It always had issues when shifting, it was like it didn't want to shift or couldn't. But I took good care of this car with regular maintenance (every 6 months to a year), and never really took it on any crazy trips. Now at 49k miles, the transmission is blowing out. Pros: Great gas mileage, can park anywhere, more space than you'd think, cute. Cons: Poor quality, slow, unreliable, not practical in snowy conditions, electrical issues with radio.

Highly Underated Great Car
If you purchase this car knowing exactly what it is, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It is not a fast car by any means but it has enough power to get the job done in terms of merging and highway driving. The front seat area is actually comfortable and roomy for a very small car. The car surprisingly holds a lot more cargo than you would ever imagine and we also carry a kayak on top and have a hitch style bike carrier on the back. It sips gasoline and we smile every time we go to the gas pump since we average about 42 miles per gallon. The vehicle warranty is fantastic and I don't see how you could get a better deal on any new car in the market right now for the price.

loud engine and constantly failing systems
Very loud ride overall and not very roomy but gets decent mileage. Definitely a $$$ pit though. We had the car for about 6 months and the Air bag light came on, sensor needed to be replaced for a cost of $1500. We've now had it for about 16 months and A/C compressor went out. Cost to replace that is another $2060 at our local shop. Not sure that the slight savings in gas is worth the $3,560 in repair costs for less than 2 years with only 116,000 miles on it. Would not recommend this car to any one :(
