Positive Review
Ive owned a 94 SL for three years and decided to pick up a 93 vr4. I love these cars, they are a beautiful piece of work! They are really reliable if taken care of, they start up every time! I've never had any problems with my SL or VR4! And let me tell you, the VR4 is FAST! Great car for the money! I should say I wouldn't recommend it to a friend because I don't want to see anyone else driving one, keeps it rare ;)
Critical Review
I would not suggest buying this car for an everyday driven car! This is a performance vehicle, and the sl, and especially the vr4 are very complicated, computerized cars! There is a computer for everything, down to the suspension! Getting one worked on, which is usually going to be monthly is not cheap! Don't get me wrong I own a 93 that has been torn apart and rebuilt with many mods! I have put maybe 500 miles on it in 2 years! I had a 91 for a year was was daily driven, always give me trouble! Only buy this car for the weekend or hobby not to get back and forth to work, you will be fired!

All good. Handling, performance, quality ride.
None
I have had this car for 28 years. I have garaged the car throughout its life and this car has only seen rain about 5 times. It has been flawless. All parts are original except for a new clutch about 10 years ago. This car handles and performs like no other car I have ever owned. I can’t say enough about the way this car was engineered. Awesome!!!!!!
fast, awd, rare
clear coat sucks, premium gas, parts are expensive
Currently own 2 of these cars, very well built good quality cars. The vr4 model is a must but is more expensive and requires more maintenance. If you don't care for the twin turbo v6 or awd just buy an SL or base model. Be mechanically inclined to fix it your self or your wallet will suffer. Not a difficult car to work on but a lot of mechanics don't know how to work on them. The clear coat is very prone to pealing so plan on waxing the car frequently but body holds up really well. 23 years later still no rust. These cars seem to be the most unappreciated japanese sports car from the 90s but the people that know what they are or own them love them. Overview, I love the car, my wallet is not a fan of it. If you're looking for a sports car you can just throw gas, oil and cheep parts at, buy a different car. :)
Economical, fun to drive, looks great, reliable
Quick clutch, entry hard for big person, shifter
For 24 years, carefully driven, I've gotten 21.176 miles per gallon (kept on my computer) while enjoying the performance that's obviously built into the car. Nothing has broken yet except a fan belt. I've parked it in the far reaches of mall parking lots so the paint is pristine except for a few stone chips that have been touched up. There's a little spot of rust on the gas cap cover where, I'm assuming, there has been a little leak in the gas cap. It's a blast to drive albeit lacking most of the modern day conveniences. And I can't think of a contemporary car, that I can afford, that looks as good.
Fast and beautiful car.
AC and paint will cost money.
High points for the beautiful look and excellent handling. The car has plenty of power and big beefy brakes. Gets lots of nice looks, with the pop up lights, spoiler, bear claw marks on the side, etc. For the speed it can go, it gets pretty good mileage too, about 23 on the highway. Now for the less positive stuff. The paint wears down/off quickly. The AC needs frequent re-charging. The engine develops various problems that the mechanic simply couldn't fix. The car holds 2 people easily, but the back seat is a joke. And it stopped being made in 2000, so as time goes on, good luck finding spare parts. Overall, glad I bought it, with an average grade of a B.
Rocket, fun to drive, fast
activeaero makes it hard to get coilovers
You can't beat the AWD paired up with a twinturboed V-6 engine. It just isn't happening unless you spend thousands more than this car costs. It rockets off the line is supported by aftermarket companies and looks great. It also gets good MPG considering that it has as much power as it does. The mitsu' handles great around corners and the spoiler even adjusts with the active-aero while you are driving! How cool is that? The leather seats are comfy and adjustable as well. Not the smoothest ride but its a sports car so who cares?
Fast!!!! Fun!!!! Handles superb!!!
You'll get tickets.
This car... Where do I start?! It has sooooo much power, while still handling better than any vehicle I've ever driven. I just bought mine for $4,800, with 94000 original miles, from a man who had 2 93 red vr-4s. I love this car so much, I get looks all the time in it. It's fast fun and affordable, this car has some serious pros, the only cons I've had so far was I was babying her too much and that made her run a little funny. My advice, if you want a really fun sports car that's gonna be easy on the wallet but still be able to destroy anything on the road, buy this car!!! You won't regret it.
FAST, luxury, very fun to drive, lots of looks.

Fast, unrivaled sports car for the price
maintenance
This was a great car, very ahead of its time. The only trouble I had with it was the repair bills. Granted, it didn't break down often, but when it did it cost a lot to fix because the engine is so dense (have to move everything to fix anything). Finishing touch was a seized water pump that took out my timing belt. These are great cars, but will need a little TLC as they begin to age.
