Positive Review
After driving both a Miata and a TR-7for 20 and 30 years, I am in love with this vehicle. It handles like a dream and the S has all the power to accelerate and handle the mountains. It is so much fun to drive up and down the mountains around all the twists and turns. I am getting about 36 mpg on long trips. This vehicle gives me a sense of security when driving on an interstate, something I did not feel with the other two vehicles. The trunk holds an amazing amount of luggage or groceries. The top is easy to put up or down. Everywhere I stop people admire it. I plan to keep this one for 20 to 30 years.

Fun to drive, very safe and sturdt.
Just replaced the sensor and thermostat.
This car has great lines, and I never go anywhere that someone doesn't stop and tell me what a cute car it is and how do I like driving it. Its a fun car to drive, two seater convertible. I have owned the car since its purchase in 2013. I drove it to work for the first two years averaging about 95 miles per day until I retired in June of 2014. I drive it mostly highway driving. Since then the car has averaged 12,000 miles per year. Never had any major repairs, Tires were changed in 2020.
Comfortable / sports / mileage
Takes premium gasoline. Really not a con
Bought a used 2013 roadster and fell in love. Handling / performance is great. Fuel mileage approx 36mpg. Interior comfort is deceiving. I’m 6’ and 235. Fit nicely in the seat with plenty of room. Oil change / maintenance is a little costly but that’s to be expected with German engineering. 1-10 rating I give a 9.5 simply because I didn’t get the “S” package and manual transmission. Next one perhaps
Fun to drive, sporty, great handling, reliable
Long way to dealership, NAV system a little clumsy
5 years and 34000 miles - yearly service only needed, except for when an 18-wheeler kicked a 2x4 or 4x4 under my car, damaging a wheel. That was fun - tire immediately went BANG and instantly flat. Car told me I had a low tire. Yup! But at 70MPH, the MINI tracked like it was on rails with that dead right front tire. Pulled over safely and had to trailer it to the dealer. It has run-flats, so no spare - and with the wheel itself damaged, wasn't driveable more than a few miles. Quality built car, great fit and finish. Responsive Turbo, fun to drive. I am 6'2", and I fit with headroom to spare (it is a convertible), and there is at least one more notch back on the seat position. Sport suspension - so if you like a cushy ride then get an old Caddie - this MINI is stock setup for cornering and handling - so the ride is stiffer than some cars.
Reliable, Fun, MPGs. Top up/down easy & fast
Top not insulated and must watch blind spot.
Car is daily driver in all weather conditions. Heated seats make 5 mile commute to work comfy on those cold Chicago winter days. Handles snow well and is terrific in the summer. Great gas mileage. I do my own oil changes and recently changed the brake fluid. Car has never seen the dealer since warranty expired and then only for maintenance. After 5 years the only issue we ever had was a nail stuck in a run flat tire. Has been a great car. Can be a little noisy on the interstate as top is not insulated and you have to be careful about blind spots when top is up. Retractable spoiler is cool and works even in winter without issues.
Handling, mileage, fun to drive, quality
road noise
Love this car. Its fun to drive even at 30mph. Handles like a dream. Puts a smile on my face every day. More room than you would expect. Trunk large enough for 2 x 5gal water jugs. Have had no troubles with it. Makes me feel 30 years younger. (IM 73)
Open top ride, nibble, and fast response
Like most convertibles noises develop overtime
We've had the roadster for some time now (soon 3yrs and 30k miles) and it's always such a pleasure to drive it anywhere with it. We did a 2,500 miles road trip last summer and it was a blast. For us the choice was somewhat easy. If you're looking for a convertible with character, a certain luxury feel, practical for two, and still affordable, the MINI roadster is a great pick over more expensive convertible, or the more cheap feel options. No questions MINI are fun to drive. This is not your most sporty roadster but it makes for a better everyday car and accommodate road travel nicely. It is the most enjoyable car I've driven and for us it remains one of the most convenient convertibles we looked at. Often convenience is expressed in passenger seats and trunk space. Comparing practical use with other convertibles is often miss leading. We don't have passengers most of the year which makes passenger seats a poor choice for space, and the roadster has great storage capacity with the top down which can't be said of many convertibles. So to us it is a really a convenient convertible. So far the biggest concern I would have is the interior part assembly starting to loosen up just a little. Yes, it is always the issue with convertibles and MINI is probably not the best in terms of part assembly longevity quality. Having said that I must be fair and express the other side of the coin. It is still a car you feel has been built by people. In other words there is a more personal touch to it and one can easily develop some attachment. We hope to keep this one for as long as we can. 10, maybe more years!
Fun to drive, good price, ease to maintain,
It has blind spots while driving with top up
I'm 6'4" and 250 lbs but have no problem getting in and out of this car plus have room to move around inside. I shopped around for a long time for a good priced sport car and the mini roadster S convertible always came to the top of my list. I have had the car over two years and it is a blast to drive.
Fun to drive, looks sharp, handles like a BEAST!!
Wicked blind spot at the rear when the roof is up!
I fell in love with my Roadie as soon as I got in for the test drive. Since then I have done several local trips into the hills and there is NOTHING that can match its style and performance. I have an Automatic (leg injury) that suits me just fine and recently went from LA to Napa Very comfortably (pug included)! It is a little snug but the regular seats do the job nicely and I'm EXTREMELY happy with my service and the reliability of the Roadster. She's my "back and forth" to work (11.5 miles each way) and even in traffic she's comfortable. Too bad they're not making any more - you missed it!
