Positive Review
Bought new from dealer. Have done recommended services, etc. Replaced both CV axles and one rear wheel bearing. Timing belt, trans fluid, motor mounts etc. This van still looks great and runs/drives great with 210,000 miles on it. Just put a new set of Coopers on it. No signs of letting us down. Struts are a little tired. Met a guy who built these vans recently. He said they are one of a kind. He said the engine block is actually a GM design. Unlike things now, this van was built all in the U.S. Even the designer was a Nissan guy in the U.S. At least that's what he told me! It was obviously painted in the U.S., but the white has held up well. Two kids and working wife commuting 20 miles everyday for the last 11 years with no issues...I'd buy another one. Great vehicle.
Critical Review
I bought my Mercury Villager Estate to haul around my family. It seemed like a pretty good deal at $3500 from a reputable dealership. I bought it with about 125k miles. Shortly after purchase, I noticed the van would pull to either side randomly and my front tires were going bald on the inside. So I had it checked out. It needed both front lower control arm bushings replaced. I couldn't find the bushings in stock anywhere so I purchased the entire control arm/ball joint set for both sides from Advance Auto Parts and get the "Lifetime Alignment" from Firestone. 3 months later, the same thing happened. Both bushings on the front were shot. I figured, faulty parts. So back to Advance I go and get replacements of another brand and another alignment and I have a different repair shop put it in. 2 months later... the passenger side bushing is shot and my newer tires are balding. I buy another control arm from Pep Boys, different brand. 3 months later passenger side is shot again. Warranty return to Pep Boys, back to the shop for replacement and back to Firestone for a free alignment... While all this was happening, the engine started developing a tick which got progressively louder. Up on Craigslist it went... cheap. I'll never buy another Ford/Mercury/Nissan minivan again.

Very reliable and soft interior
Ac went out early
This was my first car and I loved it. Super reliable and extra comfortable fabric seats. The only issues I ever had were that fuel pump and eventually an issue with the axel (which did it in). Reached over 200 k miles easily
Used it as my first vehicle, and I love it so much! Been in the family since 2011. Too bad it's aging... Sure the engine had some maintenance, but other than that, it was a beast! Too bad I'm gonna be selling this soon @ 154k miles. I love you, Villager!
Comfortable, good motor, transmission, drivetrain
Slightly noisy exhaust, small possible miss, uses
Drives like a dream, steady on gas pedal, great radio, cd players, good motor. And plenty of room. Feel like you're floating on a cloud!
It's a good van with a very good engine but you have to be a good DIY or a mechanic to fix all the major problem my van has a 280, 000 miles I replace most the suspension problem such as wheel bearing brake caliper ball joint and the distributor after 100, 000 and also replace the transmission after 65, 000 after that has no problem with the transmission. the thermostat is really the weak parts on this van you cannot rely on it that's why I take it off and after that I don't have problem with the over heating. So far it's a good reliable car. with a very heavy duty engine.
This vehicle has been trouble free for over 200k miles. It has an extremely comfortable ride and is capable of hauling two kayaks inside.
affordable nice vehicle.
This is my 4th Mercury Villager. This is the best van of any. I am buying my 5th now. So dependable, great millage, no major break downs. You will have normal maintenance issues with all Vans.I can't say enough of how good these are. Read the reviews of others with this kind of millage. I buy them at 90k some miles, & keep them until 170k + .
great engine,nice interior,safe driving.
not much power till it warms up.
I own this car for 2 1/2 years and the only visits to the mechanic were to change the oil and transmission oil through regular maintenance. I also change the water pump.It has 153000 miles and runs like new.power windows, a/c, heating all work perfect. I feel very comfortable going back and forth from the coast to the desert at least once a week (250 miles). I get 23 mpg on the freeway which I think is very good and 13 to 15 mpg in the city which is acceptable not too bad. It also has a lot of room for traveling.
