Positive Review
Ihad read that the Sable had a great safety record-today I found out the was true! Iwas t-boned on the drivers side. The other cars front end was totally smashed and although I had some damage, it was minimum in comparison. I was not injured nor were my two grand kids in the back seat!
Critical Review
Overall i give it C plus (77%). I like the spacious trunk and access, daytime running lights, interior dash, performance in takeoff and freeway, A/C is Wow cold!, great cruise vehicle at 2,000 r.p.m. Michigan Roads nothing but potholes and Mercury sable handles great. Got Kids? This vehicle have all safety features of safety in belts, clips, and door locks, windows. plus 5 star crash test. Now the Dislike: I traded my 2006 f-150 supercrew for sable for fuel efficiency: I'm getting 15.5 m.p.g. on sable and I drive SLOW with cruise control (My truck 11 m.p.g) At 68,000 miles at cold start- it takes 3 seconds to crank engine at 70 degree's, it hesitates and runs (Cleaned Idle Air Control) fixed problem. I Hate, oh I Hate rear vehicle suspension sags down without weight, with weight looks awful , Value of vehicle depreciates five times lower than Honda accord, I'm 6'2 and leg room not so great, i have leg cramps and back pain if i sat over 10 minutes. Climate Control and Radio is one piece, So if you want to upgrade your radio - not happening. I recommend this vehicle to anyone under 5'10 height. I got mine at great deal for $3,000 four years old (6/1/2009) I should not be complaining. The good news the SOHC Vulcan engines with well maintain last over 200,000 miles Ive read in article, however, the transmission not so great. thanks

I had bought my 2003 Sable platinum edition, used from a second hand dealer, after 2017. I paid $3200, for a very nice car. Had 87,000 miles on it, a real trouble-free auto. The 24-valve, V6 engine, had great gas economy, at 21 miles to the gallon. Unfortunately, three days, after I retired, a tree suitcased, it in my own yard. That was a very sad day! I would buy another, a in heart beat! Had all the bells and whistles, on it!
As a graduate student, my life is often filled with demanding schedules, rigorous academic work, and constant challenges. However, amidst the chaos and stress of daily life, there is one constant that brings a sense of stability and reliability - my 2002 Mercury Wagon. Owning a car may seem like a mundane aspect of life for many, but for me, my Mercury Wagon is much more than just a mode of transportation. It is a symbol of independence, freedom, and adventure. From road trips to late-night study sessions, my car has been by my side through it all. The impact that my Mercury Wagon has had on my life is profound. It has enabled me to explore new places, meet new people, and experience life in a way that would not have been possible without it. Whether it's driving to campus for class, running errands around town, or visiting friends and family, my car has been a reliable companion every step of the way. Furthermore, my Mercury Wagon has served as a sanctuary during times of stress and overwhelm. There is something incredibly calming about the hum of the engine, the scent of the leather seats, and the familiarity of the dashboard. It provides a sense of comfort and solace that is unparalleled, allowing me to escape from the chaos of the outside world even if just for a short while. In addition to its practical uses, my car has also taught me valuable lessons about responsibility and maintenance. From regular oil changes to tire rotations, I have learned the importance of taking care of my belongings and ensuring that they are in proper working order. These lessons have not only translated to my car but have also influenced my approach to other aspects of my life, including academics, relationships, and personal well-being. Overall, the impact that my 2002 Mercury Wagon has had on my life as a graduate student is immeasurable. It has provided me with a sense of freedom, independence, and responsibility that has shaped me into the person I am today. I am grateful for the memories, experiences, and lessons that my car has afforded me, and I look forward to many more adventures in the years to come.

I was perfect
I was rear-ended by someone going 85 spun me around rolled twice, hit a tree landed upside down. I lived. Broke my clavicle and had some bruising. Before my car was totaled, it was perfect. Love Sables. Comfortable dependable nice ride.

Bought used in 2005, was reliable and comfortable. Lots of space inside, and the trunk could hold several bodies in tarps. Decent off-road on flat land in the woods. Quiet engine a plus. Recommend scotch guardingprior to your recreational activities. Still common enough and unremarkable enough in appearance to blend in and get lost in the crowd.
