What Owners are Saying About the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer
"As good or better than any vehicle I have owned"
"In 198,000 miles, other than regular prescribed maintenance intervals (50K, 100K, 150K), all I have done to this car mechanically is replace the alternator at 154K miles, and the rear wheel bearings at 175K miles."
"Great winter driving vehicle"
"AWD works great on this vehicle. Have had no major issues with it. AC and Heat get the job done nicely. Only down side is the leather seats that don't have heated seats. Takes a while for seats to warm up in winter. MPG's are great. Averaging right around 20mpg right now."
"Great Ride!"
"I own a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. I bought it with 12,000 miles on it. It now has 160,000 on it. I average around 17 miles/gallon and drive an hour to work each day. It would be nice if it got better gas mileage, but it's been a great car! I would definitely recommend this SUV. I have heard of people having transmission troubles but it seems like it depends on how you drive it. Mine has had mostly highway miles and it's been an awesome car. Great condition after 160,000 miles."
