What Owners are Saying About the 1998 Mercury Mountaineer
"Ran forever"
"Bought this car 10 years ago with 28,000 miles on it. Ran it for 10 years to 308,000 miles and was very happy with it."
"Cant let go of this Mounty!"
"We bought the 97' Mounty in 2000 with 36k miles. The only time she has let us down was in Florida about 6 years ago when the radiator let go, other wise she has been so reliable these last twelve years.(with regular maintanance). The 5.0 V8 is just plain awesome. The Trans has never needed a rebuild so far. The AWD is awesome, and works exceptional in the snow. The seats are super comfy, and everything on the dash is well laid out. If there was not some rust on the rear quarter panels, she would still look new. The paint is still as glossy as the day we bought her, and she has spent her entire life outside without a garage. Love this truck!"
"Great in snow"
"I got through unbelievable snow drifts during an especially rough ND blizzard, and even the Chevy Trailblazer following me got stuck. Mileage is the biggest turn off for me, getting around 14 mpg and with AWD I don't even get a little bit of a break in the summertime. I've had it for around two years and haven't had any issues with it to date, and (to my knowledge) it treated the previous owner well also. I would recommend this automobile to someone who deals with deep snow, because you shouldn't ever have to worry about getting stuck."
