Positive Review
The car has been completely reliable. Very comfortable. 3.0 V6 has plenty of power. Smooth shifting transmission. Excellent brakes. Premium sound system is terrific. Trunk has plenty of space. Only issue is that the adjustable lumbar support in driver's seat broke.
Critical Review
From the day I drove this car off the lot the transmission was rough. Over time it got worse until while driving the transmission cluncked so badly I thought it had fallen out. Of course this was just after my 35,000 mile warranty was up, Neither the dealer or Ford Motor were the least bit interested in helping me. I took it to a private transmission repair where I was told it would be $2,000 to repair. The car was 2.75 years old and had 37,000 miles. All I can say is never again.

The car is a good car, I have had this car for over 17 years and it still holding up. I am ready to sell now. Someone can still get a lot of years out of this 🚗.
I bought it used from dealer with 11000 miles. It now has 110,000 and have few problems. Have tried to keep this car in top shape, kept up with a few recalls. I did have to have new tie rod and control arm replaced this past year in 23 and in 22 new brake shoes. I have a few driving years left in me, I hope, and feel so does this car.
Drives Excellent
Has couple minor dings on passenger side
Buying car from a relative and just want to know the Blue Book of the 2008 Mercury Milan with 125000 miles
Fun to drive good engine sound great car
Door handle broke passenger driver side
Just bought it used the test drive was very impressive. Passed on it but it always haunted me calling me back. I was impressed by its engine sound you know what I mean. That grrrr and acceleration a car should have. So drove others here in sw Florida there is always cars to try out .But this car kept calling me back. My wife drove it the second test drive and liked it. So the rest is history a very nice stylish car. Looked a 2003 jag but it did not hold a candle to the millan premiere hands down the better car.
Sunroof, loud speakers, heated seats
Bump on side
It had heated seats, tinted windows, a sunroof, black leather interior, and it’s an amazing day to day car
Everything about the car
None
I love this car to the fullest extent and wish mercury was still around to make this car! The 3.0 v6 has great power and accelerates and merges with ease; however, with the a/c on the engine can be kinda sluggish because the a/c robs a bit of power. The transmission can feel "jolt-y" at low speeds too and can shift a little hard between gears. The leather seats are very attractive and have normal wear and tear over the years and the seats aren't too comfortable after an extended period of time. The backseats however are cushiony and have ample leg room to be comfortable. The sound system is amazing and has deep bass which I love (no need to add a subwoofer). The trunk size is good for being a midsized car (when loaded correctly I've been able to pack the car for camping trips with everything I needed). Aside from normal oil changes, rotating tires, etc., I've had to replace the engine mounts, one reverse light, starter, spark plug, broken door handle and a door lock (the rear passenger door wouldnt stay shut) and I was having some trouble where the head and taillights would turn themselves on after shutting off the engine but the issue seemed to have resolved itself?? There was also a recall for the passenger airbag but other than that, the car has always been fun to drive and has gotten me from point A to B. Would recommend!!
Mechanical reliability
weak 4 cyl power, turning radius
I bought my 2006 Milan Premier (manual trans.) used in 2007 with 14000 miles and it now has 208000. Overall I have been pleased with it's reliability over 12 years of ownership. Have replaced usual parts (tires, brakes (only once), one tie rod, one control arm, serpentine belt, battery, oil and filters). The only unexpected part replaced was the thermostat ($300) which got stuck in the open position (no harm done.) The 4 cyl. is kind of weak especially with the a/c running but I'm not in any hurry. Avg gas mileage is 27 mpg with 75% highway, 25% city street driving. Longer road trips are a comfortable ride and result in avg of 30mpg. Smaller issues which have annoyed me: lumbar support broke at 2yrs old, all lights on stereo went out (radio still works), inside driver side door handle broke and have to open with the small lock lever above it (this has happened in many Ford vehicles), visor wont stay fastened, some paint chipping off. Turning radius is not the best. For all of these little things I am still pleased that the car has been very reliable mechanically and has never failed to start (even when I needed a new battery one cold Nov. morning) and has never stalled. Also pleased that my a/c is still working in a 13 y/o car which has never had the Freon recharged.
Looks, drives like a car of higher value.
Should have bought two of them.
I've had my Milan for 10 years and except for oil changes every 3000 mi., I've had no problems with it. 19000 miles of sheer comfort and superb reliability. Recently the ABS light will come on, so I'm thinking a brake job is in its future but other than that this car has zero flaws. It looks brand new and drives as if it's brand new. It's a shame they don't make them anymore, but then this buggy is going to last me 10 more years.
