Positive Review
While many are saying it doesn't stand a chance against a Navigator or Escalade, the GLS has a roomier 3rd row, is more tech-advanced (thank you, MBUX!), and is more luxurious.

Reliability/safety
Only the horsepower rating!!
Great car has 23’s on it for super good handling. The tires are close to 900 each . My wife luv’s the ride ,the interior and big screen. It’s big but a great car to travel in style and safety . No issues . We hav owned GLE’s . U will luv the entire package ..
Blast to drive with ECU upgrade. Drive assist.
Rear AC on high fans noise up front and Tire wear
We were looking for a GL550 and stumbled across the GLS580 series and couldn't get away from it. Hard to find for a good price and I have not seen one on the road. We tow dirt bikes and RZRs so needed something that would tow. Rentech Mercedes approved dealer install took it to AMG HP 598hp and 705 lbs torque. It is an unbelievable family SUV now with that added power. Plenty has already been said here about the plushness of the vehicle. Tires only last 10k miles due to performance demand and I have had a couple of electronic issues that the dealer is working out for me. I am amazed with this vehicle and if the X7 is better I am having a hard time understanding how other than preference on which emblem is on the vehicle.
nice family hauler
none
this is a nice car, better than the lincoln navigator but no x7 or escalade. this is actually very nice but it misses the well factor rivals have. this is the first time mercedees hass redisigned the gls for the 2020 model year.
Everything
Price
I sold my 2021 GLE to buy this GLS 2022. Much better car, very well equipped compare to GLE. Smooth ride, comfort and quality. A real S class Mercedes. Maybe the best one I've had.
Everything
Cost, but well worth it.
The performance and efficiency of this light hybrid SUV is phenomenal. The electronics are quite significant with two twelve inch screens which allow easy control of all vehicle functions. It seats seven comfortably and has the same suspension as the S-Class so it is great for long trips. Quality throughout. The GLS580 is relatively hard to find but well worth it. It is the perfect balance between the GLS450 which is underpowered/trucklike and the AMG version which is trying to make it into something that it is not.
Everything
None. The side steps are mostly for show.
We traded our GLS 550 for a 2021 GLS 580. The upgrade is extraordinary. If you skip the E active suspension you are missing by far the best part of this vehicle! The ride is exceptional without ever being floaty, in spot plus mode it pouts some "sport" sedans to shame. Curve mode seems to defy the laws of physics. Power is slightly better than the previous 550 but power delivery is greatly improved its smooth and powerful under all circumstances. The tech is finally second to none. Finally the second row gets seats that move fore and aft electronically so not only are there 3 more inches of leg room, the can be proportioned to the third row so even tall adults can fit all the way in the back with more than adequate legroom. IMO its probably the best car in the Mercedes garage until the S class gets the new E active system. Its that good.
Effortless comfort, safety and performance.
Fills the garage.
This car is perfect in every way. Its quality is outstanding, its design is cutting edge, it is dependable, extremely safe, gets outstanding gas mileage for a very large SUV, it is very comfortable and quiet, and it is easy to drive. It was delivered complete and ready to go with a full tank of gas and all license plates and required government stickers in place. All we have done to it is put in gasoline get it washed and enjoy. It is well worth the cost. We recommend it highly. it is the best car we have ever owned or driven.
roomy, luxurious, and big
less fuel economy than normal vechicles,
