Yes, the GLB shares the Mercedes family penchant for a roomy, well-crafted interior, cutting-edge technology, and a quiet, creamy ride. That really goes without saying but it’s our job to write something, right? After piloting some of the larger Mercedes SUV models, like the GLE and GLS, zipping around in the uber-agile, easy-to-park GLB was an exercise in convenience and maneuverability.
Sharing a platform with the somewhat smaller, coupe-like GLA, the GLB brings more rear-seat headroom and additional cargo space to the small-SUV party. Opting for all-wheel drive (AWD), or 4Matic because it’s a Mercedes, nets some additional utility, too. Finally, if you want to spice up your GLB experience, Mercedes offers an AMG-infused GLB 35 model.
2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB pricing starts at $32,318 for the GLB GLB 250 Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $40,850 when new. The range-topping 2023 GLB GLB 250 4MATIC Sport Utility 4D starts at $33,364 today, originally priced from $42,850.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
The GLB is one easy SUV to drive. Highly maneuverable, it slips into parking spaces larger SUVs must pass by. Although we would appreciate a little more oomph, the turbocharged 4-cylinder GLB 250 does an admirable job of moving this little SUV through traffic.
Displaying some off-pavement chops when equipped with the 4Matic system, the GLB has an off-road mode and almost 8 inches of ground clearance. However, on the pavement, the GLB delivers a smooth and remarkably quiet ride.
Nimbleness and maneuverability are common traits among small luxury SUVs. We found the GLB performs as well or better than most competitors, thanks in part to the excellent outward visibility facilitated by its more upright profile.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and researching the current collection of subcompact luxury SUVs, including the GLB.
Well crafted, the GLB’s cabin is roomy and inviting. Adults can relax in the second-row seat with 38 inches of legroom, plus have 27 cubic feet of cargo space in back. The GLB is more accommodating than many subcompact luxury SUVs.
Adding to the second-row enjoyment are seats that slide fore and aft, as well as recline. Although not very accommodating for adults, Mercedes even includes a third-row seat option, which is rare in this segment.
A wonderful mix of rugged and elegant, the GLB’s exterior styling helps it stand out from its legion of competitors. We particularly like the bold grille with the 3-point star prominently displayed in its very center.
Off-Road Engineering Package
Standard on the GLB 250 4Matic, it comes with an off-road drive mode and functional displays for the driver in off-road driving, showing tilt angle, grade percentage, and more.
MBUX Infotainment System
The standard MBUX infotainment system has a 7-inch screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and “Hey, Mercedes” keyword activation. It’s upgradeable to a bigger, richer 10.25-inch screen.
Keyless entry
A function of the SmartKey, this allows the GLB to automatically unlock as you approach with the key fob in your pocket. It includes push-button start, too.
Parktronic with Active Parking Assist
Optional, this system can judge if the GLB will fit in a parallel parking spot and then steer into the spot with the driver controlling the brakes.
Surround-view camera
Using cameras located around the GLB and a special software program, this optional system provides a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of the vehicle and the surrounding area. We found it invaluable when backing into parking spaces.
Adjustable suspension with adaptive damping system
Another GLB 250 option, this system allows you to set the suspension to your driving style. As you drive, sensors constantly monitor conditions and adjust the damping accordingly.
Motivating the GLB duo are two versions of the same turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The GLB 250 gets the one with 221 horsepower, while the GLB 35 uses the AMG-tuned version with 301 horsepower. We found the base turbo 4-cylinder engine in the GLB 250 satisfying enough; however, the GLB 35 takes it to an entirely different level. Many of the GLB competitors generate similar power and fuel economy figures from their entry-level engines. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the GLB 250, while 4Matic is optional for it and standard for the GLB 35.
