Positive Review
I've owned mine since 75K miles, and until 140K, only wear and tear parts. Serpentine belt needed replacing at 135K which I consider reasonable (dealer cost 1000.). Beginning to show some surface rust, but overall still a nice looking car both in body style and wear and tear.
Critical Review
The MB 190E (2.3L) is one cool ride. Built on the basic frame and chassis, it cruises very well on the road. As a city vehicle, not so great as gas mileage is weak. The remote windows tend to fail routinely due to the failure of the switches. Easy to replace but why should you have to? Anyone with a longer foot length may find the gas pedal a bit cramped. The rear-wheel drive is a bit odd also. Not recommended for northern climates, clearly. But one can repair this buggy quite a bit, I suspect, so it should last for the long haul. I was going to try and keep it till then but the spouse does not like repairing it all the time.

Styling Quality Ride
Expensive to maintain
Even with all the potholes along the country roads of West Virginia, it’s still manages to cruise with ease and nothing looks like it on the road!
Solid handling, incredible performance
Expensive if you neglect it, a bargain to maintain
Timeless looks that make it look 5-10 years newer than it is. Relentless durability and excellent handling even at its age and mileage. Always turns over when you start it and the interior is still mint. Roomy even though it is small by today's sedans standard.
its great
no cd player
i want to sell
Joyful driving, reliable, SAFE and way undervalued
Electrical and AC systems can by tricksy.
I purchased a 1991 for my Dad and it has been a dream car from that day to this (2015!). Owned three subsequent MBenz and I'll never own another, compared to this car they aren't worth your time, effort, energy, money or GRIEF. > 190,000 MI on it and the only problems I had were when I lent it to someone else and it came back to me with a host of pricey problems (weekend trips to Vegas and no maintenance). However, have happily spend the $$ to get it back up to snuff; it is the best road car ... ever. Fun to drive, with a ride that still is astonishing (oops, officer, I really didn't notice I was going 100!) I have religiously taken it to MBenz dealer for repair (although they did forget to put the oil back in it once!), and that is likely part of its longevity. Use genuine parts and get them put in by someone who knows what they're doing. It's worth it. And no matter how many times they ask, no I won't let anyone, even your mechanic, pry it away from you! Oh, yeah, one last thing; that little "jerk" into first is right; it's just something you get used to; you WILL NOT win any races off the line ... but 20 yards later ... watch out!
great gas mileage. drives well and is comfortable.
no real cup holders
I bought this car with 100,000 miles on it for $3,800. It uses premium gas but gets combined 24 mpg average.(I record my mpg every fill up). Its had an oil leak since I bought it, so I put a quart of oil in it every month or so. Its comfortable. It drives great. I can't believe the price KBB says its worth. I wouldn't sell it for anything less than $3,500, and all the other people out there selling this car agree.
This is a classy, Fun, economical, and Very Safe!
