Positive Review
I have thoroughly enjoyed this SUV! Saw it advertised inside a mall, it was love at first sight! I had been looking & this vehicle suited my needs, plus it was classy. Mazda makes a great product. I'm still in love some 283K miles later! Would own another, no doubt.
Critical Review
At first, the overall quality and performance were below the Passat that i was driving. However, after many miles of driving under a wide range of conditions, I have come to grudgingly admire this vehicle. The Lows: Road noise, weak brakes that chatter, no matter what tires I put on it, they always seem to "cup", poorly located and lit controls, body squeaks, anemic low and high end power, poor gas mileage - 14mpg city / 20 hwy, barely adequate heater and A/C, cargo rug came loose, Engine Computer Module (ECM) went bad at 80,000 and was expensive to replace. The Highs: comfortable seats, excellent vision, great sunroof, tires last a long time, goes anywhere in the snow, smooth tranny, decent cargo space, reliable - except for the ECM problem.

A really comfortable ride and not costly.
Some rust after 22 years.
This car has been excellent! Easy to drive, comfortable, and low maintenance. I would purchase again if they still made them.
18 years old and still looks new, Well made!
Ride is a little rough on local roads
201,000 miles, Tow Package, 3.0 V6. Well, I don't know if I'm really qualified at this point since I just drove it home today. My first crossover, my first "Ford" platform since 1978 Mercury Marquis. This unit has been taken care of and I am fairly impressed given the nature of the vehicle focus. I purchased this one so I can haul some of my Mother's possessions to family members on the east coast and have a little higher ground clearance for sweetie to be able to get in without breaking her neck (or mine). The V6 is mild but cruises effortlessly on the highway. It rides pretty firm but given the target audience. I got the cloth seats and the everything that comes with that package so it's pretty much no frills. The previous owner had installed a nice JVC audio system so I'm stoked. (Motley Crue Cranked... I'm 68) This version is well made and not too many noises considering the mileage. The luggage rack trim strip on the left side is lifting but a little of "CopperCoat" silicone fixed that issue. Anyone considering this thing could do MUCH worse... I know.. I have! I was REALLY surprised at the weight of the hood... I expected the import feel of many such applications and was taken aback when I had to "OOF" it open. This one has brand new tires so the firm feel is amplified a little. I assume it will lessen as the cheap rubber wears down. Cheap tires... UGH!. It's like running "Crisco" in the engine... you just don't skimp on some items. I am looking forward to seeing if this thing lasts me a while. Like I said ... you could do MUCH worse. I recommend!
Reliable
This car has been very reliable and only has required routine maintenance. Also gets good gas mileage.
Looks good drives good cd player works fine
It has a lot of miles on it and it is a 2004
This car is emaculate inside and out with the exception being the headlights have a foggy film over them. All the electrical works. The maintenance has been kept up on it. The transmission fluid leaks bad since I had the cv axles changed. The seal started leaking and I asked for it to be fixed and the mechanic said I needed to take it to a transmission mechanic after he said he changed the seal and it would not seal right. This happened after he had changed the CV axles. It also needs the front strut changed. I had the coils and plugs changed along with the battery. The windshield has no cracks. No dents. I had the alternator changed as well. The tires are still within warranty and have good tread.
Roomy, fun SUV. Sporty
Oil pan gasket leaks noted in other owners posts
Fam friend was looking for reliable, budget-friendly, safe car for their daughter. After 13 years of our daughter owning it, we called them and they jumped on the deal because they knew we had no complaints and knew our daughter had no real issues with it. The only final issue after all these years was the oil pan gasket had a leak which dealership said would cost $$$ to fix. We opted to fix ourselves and it's been great. Virtually maintenance free except for the usual upkeep and a power window issue. If you can find a Tribute in decent shape for a good price, buy one.

I love my car
none that I know of
This is my second Mazda and I would buy another one. It runs great and has had only one repair in almost 20 years. I just had new headlights and tail lights put on and all the stuff underneath like struts, tie rods, lower and upper arms, hatch shocks, rear shocks etc.
Accelerate rapidly, storage, small
Lackw key for passengers side door
There is almost nothing for me to not like about this car. The leg room is more than adequate for 6 foot 2 220 pound man like myself. The only issues that I really have this vehicle so far is the driver side door lock breaking, there is no key for the passenger side also the rear window and latch system is very difficult to operate and there is no passive alarm system stock.
