"Great car and always reliable. Been so cheap to own with really no major repairs. However if there is anything negative to be said about this car, the tires are an odd size and difficult to get, if you do find them, you only get 3 brands or so. The non turbo is not as fast as most cars, but the gas mileage more than makes up for it. With about a 13 gallon tank I always get 7 days between fillups. Thats just to and from work for me. I am super pleased with this car."

"My Protege5 is over 10 years old, only recently started showing it's age and needing repairs. People still stop me and ask when did I get a new car...but are shocked when I tell them this car is over 10 years old. A testimony to how easy it is to maintain this vehicle! Superb gas mileage, I've used it to drive all over this big beautiful country several times, and only a few months ago, when I had it at a Mazda dealership for an oil change and check the headlamp, did I buy a new Mazda CX-7. I still have the Protege5, it is now my back-up car. If this model was still available, I would highly recommend it."
