"I wanted a sportscar, couldn't afford vette or"

Italian . Checked out Mazda and had to have that Beautiful MX 5 Club model. It's the best driving car I've ever owned. It's durable and very dependable. I've driven round trip from Killeen Texas to Orlando Fl. and also to Chicago and back to Killeen. I was comfortable and cruised between 70 and 85. Great trip. I'm so happy with it I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of 2016 models. I might buy a new one. .

Critical Review

"quality?"

This is my second Miata. I drove a 91 for many years. This one is nice, but I miss my old one. At 8,000 miles, the clutch simply disintegrated. It was replaced under warranty, but it's bothered me ever since. I never put a clutch in the 91, with over 140,000 miles on it. I'm afraid something else will come apart and leave me stranded again. This one has a tremendous amount of hard plastic in the interior, which has caused many sqeaks as I travel down the highway. The gas mileage is only 30 MPG on the road, while my 91 was almost 40. I realize this one's slightly larger, but a 25% decrease? The tires are wearing quickly. I think that much of the handling comes from soft rubber tires, so count on replacing them about every 25,000 miles. Once again, this was not a problem on my earlier model. I know that a sports car has a little "give and take" involved, but the performance is truly lower than the earlier models, and the handling is only slightly better. The car is purported to have more interior room, but the cupholder on the door is constantly a bother. I'm 6 feet tall, so I've got to fold up a little anyway, but the older one without the cupholder digging into my leg was much more comfortable. The center console is more of the hard plastic, and it's very uncomfortable to rest an elbow on. I was able to buy an aftermarket pad for the old one, but it's impossible on this model since the console slides open instead of hinges. It's still fun to drive on very short trips, but who wants to spend 20K on a toy to sit in the garage until it's sunny outside only to return after a few miles. I'd much rather take a long drive through the twisties, but it's not any fun being uncomfortable while doing so. The Honda S roadster offers much more comfort for a little more money. Needless to say, I'm somewhat disappointed with the purchase. I'm thinking of trading soon. At least it's held a good resale value.

Great car at a great price

I recently purchased a car from Mike at Carolina Auto Direct of High Point, NC. The car that I was interested in was on the lot when I arrived and was exactly as advertised. Mike was great to work with and we soon reached a deal on the car. I recommend this dealership and Mike to anyone in the market for a good quality used vehicle.

The Mazda Is My Best Ever Dream Car.
Pros

Styling, hard top convertible, reliability,

Cons

Side visibility with top up. Small trunk.

It pains me to leave it. The reason for selling the Miata is that due to my advanced age I have made the difficult decision to bow before the gods of age and admit that I owe it to my fellow motorists to quit driving while my driving record remains impeccable. So the Miata will be my final motoring experience, and my all time favorite car in all important parameters. Performance, Mechanical, Styling, Even gas mileage. My only criticism is that with the top up visibility to the near sides is restricted.

Still going strong.
Pros

Holds the road beautifully. A driver's dream car.

Cons

Noisy engine and bad in snow...that's all of it.

My MX5 is my only car and gets commented on, every single day. From "that looks like a fun car" to "really love your car"...It has never been garaged and I was recently offered over $20,000 but I won't sell. My only drawback is it is too light for snowy roads...other than that it is perfect. The trunk is far bigger than reported. I have over 140K miles and still going strong. I have it washed frequently, so rust is not an issue on my undercarriage. I love to drive and driving it cross country thru mountain passes, was a dream...I was 75 at the time, 10 years ago. When the day comes that I have to give it up, I will be heartbroken. BTW, it is my 6th Miata...and likely at my age, the last.

Pros

Inexpensive. Low maintenance.

Cons

They don't make it any more

Awesome car - Motor is small - but it doesn't weigh anything. Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's will transform it into a budget supercar. Anything it cant out run it will embarrass in the next turn. You wont even have a tire squeak and they will be trying to not wrap around a tree. Simple automobile. Bullet proof engine. No Turbo to burn everything up. They are a superior experience to the new ones, and still a true convertible. Last of the line to have "real" (non electric) steering. 2006 was the first year of the NC generation. I am going to keep mine forever in the family.
