Positive Review
I enjoyed thiscar immensely and am sory to this day I sold it 2 yrs. ago. It was my baby and beautiful until I had to sell it due to pressure from my husband toget a bigger vehicle to haul "stuff". If Iever see it, I will try to buy it back if it is in hallway decent shape. I feel I deserted it by selling. booo-hooo.:(
Critical Review
Per my observation, this vehicle is not an automatic. It has a 5-speed manual transmission.

beautiful analogue experience. does what most modern cars can't do, and that is provide a perfect connection to car and driver. this is the most fun you can have on the roads without breaking the law.
super fun to drive, especially top down
limited luggage capacity, little sound insulation
We're the original owners of our 2001 Miata LS and my wife and I still find it incredibly fun to drive around in, even after 23 years. It's our "extra" car so not a daily driver and spends bad weather days and the winter season parked in the garage, so it still looks and drives like new. Its incredibly fun for day trips on scenic roads which are plentiful in our area. We have taken some longer (2000-3000 mile) multi-week trips with it and it's OK for that after I changed change the tires to Continentals, which are MUCH quieter and softer riding than the OEM tires. This made a huge difference in ride and noise comfort at the expense of a minor loss in handling. The car has been super-reliable, but I had my first problem in 2023 when a glitch developed with the anti-theft engine immobilizer system causing sproadic starting issues (key not recognized). It's a well-known problem and simple to fix IF you can find the necessary parts, which are increasingly hard to find for a car of this vintage. The part I needed is no longer made and the local Mazda dealer was of no help. Fortunately, I was able to find the part I needed from a seller in Taiwan and found a US company (SOS Diagnostics in Canby, OR) that was able to program it to work with the chip keys and PCM in my car. We are back in business again and this should be a permanent fix. We love the car and I'm pretty sure we'll keep it until we are too old to drive it anymore, after which it will be passed on to one of my lucky kids/grandkids.
2 Door

If you gained weight like me, its herd to get in
I've owned a 1990 mx5 miata now for 27 years. Just last week I purchased a 2005 mx5. My 90 has 284000 miles on it and my new to me 2005 has 109000.im giving my nephew my 90 tomorrow. He has the means and tools to bring it back to life. I will ALWAYS have a miata. I'm 59 and my first sports car was a 1981 Mazda Rx7, (I had two of those 2,) So when the miata came out in 89 I knew I had to have one. I bought my first (used ) in 1997.SO BUY ONE !
This car is good for learning manual and is very forgiving. If you’ll be willing to give up a bit of space for a nice two seater convertible car then it’s perfect. The only complaint I have is the noise within the cabin when on the freeway but you could just drown it out with music. Other than that, it’s a very nice car.
Lots of fun
Yellow available in1992
Only driven spring/fall or dead of winter if it’s warm enough. Older you get the harder getting in and out. We love this car, owned 18 years. Garaged year round
