Positive Review

"Great Car"

I bought my 92 Mazda over a year and a half ago. It had 328,000 miles on it. Since then I've only replace the valve cover gasket and the head gasket twice (due to improper driving) and nothing else. It now has 339,000 miles and runs beautifully. It does have somewhat of a muffler leak, but that doesnt affect it too much. We've been suffering a winter with temps below zero on consecutive days, yet it starts on the first try every time. Extremely reliable car! Heat and AC even still work fine.

VS

Critical Review

"Not a happy car"

Transmission locks up in "hold" (OD off) Engine accelerates/deceleates on it's own, as if driven by a ghost. Wipers too slow.

I love my 1990 Mazda 626
Pros

Fun to drive, great gas mileage, last forever

I bought this car new 21 years ago, and it's going strong. It just turned over 200,000 miles, and still gets 35 mpg and has no problem accelerating up steep hills. It is a 5 speed, and I think that helps it get better gas mileage. The electric windows and door locks still work, which I think is pretty unusual in a car of this age that's had hard use. It recently started leaking around the moon roof, so I've had it sealed shut. I've also had a 1986 Mazda B2200 pickup that I bought for my business. Although the business sold it around 10 years ago, it's still running and I see it around town sometimes. A Mazda will be my choice the next time I buy a car, since they just keep running without any major problems, and they are a blast to drive! Lots of get up and go, and they handle very well. Those "zoom zoom" commercials tell the truth!

My Mighty Mazda

I bought my 91 626 3 1/2 years ago for $1600. It had 94,000 miles then and 149k now. I live in the sierra foothills and drove this mighty mazda up and down the hill to go to school evry day with no problems. I bought the car because it gets great gas mileage and i didnt want all the miles to pile up on my Audi. Now, I drive the 626 evrywhere!! She might look old, but the old gal has enough get up and go that she does 75mph up hill with the AC going full blast!! I had the front end from the tires to the steering colum replaced and a clutch but thats it! I LOVE MY MIGHTY MAZDA!!!!!!! Will keep her for my kids to drive to college next year and as long as she runs!!!!

reliable

I bought a 1990 626 lx hatchback used two years ago with 135000 miles. Everything still works, relatively comfortable for the size car it is. For the money I paid I really like the car.

Best car ever bought

It has 373,000 miles on it and it still runs fine. Still has original Engine and transmission. Have to do routine stuff every once in awhile due to age but overall, the best car we ever bought.
