Maserati launched the Ghibli as an affordable entry-level sedan to compete with other midsize Euro 4-doors like the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series. In many ways, it does just that. Certainly, where engine performance, athleticism, and tech savvy are concerned. Sadly, the walls are closing in on sedans in the current SUV-loving marketplace. This has hurt resale value within the segment in general and the Ghibli in particular.
The Ghibli does have one thing lacking in most of those pesky SUVs: personality. Although it may not provide the most sumptuous interior in its segment, there is no shortage of heritage and tradition in its leather and wood furnishings. Plus, there is still plenty to be said of its Italian pedigree.
2023 Maserati Ghibli pricing starts at $58,069 for the Ghibli GT Sedan 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $86,795 when new. The range-topping 2023 Ghibli Trofeo Sedan 4D starts at $84,511 today, originally priced from $125,195.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Maserati Ghibli models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
The Maserati Ghibli is a fun car to drive by any standard. Sadly, it’s overshadowed by the high-performance variants of other midsize luxury sedans. For instance, the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class performance variants easily come to mind. For our money, the Ghibli has tons of character and one of the richest exhaust notes you’ll hear anywhere. However, cars like the BMW M5 and the AMG variants of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class continue to set the segment bar.
Arming the GT and Modena, the base engine is a twin-turbo V6. If you can afford it, the Modena model is a worthy upgrade over the base GT because it has a noticeable boost in engine output. The twin-turbo V8 in the Trofeo model turns the Ghibli’s performance up another few notches. Moreover, we love the Trofeo’s Skyhook adaptive suspension because of the extra control it provides when cornering.
In our test drives, we liked the Ghibli’s around-town driving manners. Furthermore, it’s a comfy highway cruiser.
Available materials like wood, carbon fiber, and even silk dress up the Ghibli’s interior. Is it the most impressive interior in the segment? Not when the Ghibli is up against cabins in the Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
There’s plenty of space in the front seats for tall people; however, the rear seat is a little tight. The trunk’s cargo room is among the segment’s best.
In our view, the Ghibli’s exterior styling is one of its strongest attributes, making it a standout among the best cars. An uber-stylish sedan, it separates itself from the noise of so many look-alikes. It features elegant body lines and a bold front grille bearing a huge Maserati trident emblem. The theme is certainly sporty luxuriousness. Furthermore, with so few Ghilbi models on the road, you won’t see yourself coming and going at every turn.
Maserati Highway Assist
This semi-autonomous driver-assistance system can help steer, accelerate, and brake the Ghilbi under certain conditions.
Skyhook performance suspension
We really like this suspension that controls the dampers to smooth the ride. Moreover, it also reduces squatting on takeoffs, diving when braking, and body roll when cornering.
Ferrari-designed engines
The twin-turbo V6 and the twin-turbo V8 delivering Ghibli’s go were engineered in the house of Ferrari.
Adaptive LED headlights
Lighting dark corners during a turn, these headlights swivel following steering input.
Power-adjustable front seats
We are convinced that almost anyone can find the ideal driving position with these 12-way power-adjustable front seats and the power-adjustable steering wheel.
Front console
During our time with the Ghibli, we found the cooler integrated into the center console to be quite handy.
As signaled by its price, the base GT trim is well-equipped. Standard features include a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, stainless steel exhaust with chrome tips, and leather seats. Heated power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and 19-inch alloy wheels also make the grade.
The standard infotainment system is a 10.1-inch screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and navigation. Other standard tech features include wireless charging, remote start, and an 8-speaker audio system.
Standard driver assistance tech features include blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, full-speed adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround-view camera, automatic emergency braking, Highway Assist, and traffic-sign recognition.
Upgrading to the Modena trim brings enhanced aesthetics and performance. On top of an extra 79 horsepower and 59 lb-ft of torque, this trim adds unique sport bumpers and a high-gloss piano black wood interior trim. It is the only Ghibli grade available with all-wheel drive.
The Trofeo model ups performance with a twin-turbo V8 engine. Other upgrades include a Corsa drive mode and a Skyhook performance suspension with electronic damping control. There are plenty of exterior and interior touches unique to the Trofeo, making it more exclusive.
We like all the options for customizing the interior with premium materials like carbon fiber, Zegna silk, and much more. You can also change the exterior with different trim packages and wheel options.
An available Comfort & Convenience Package adds soft-close doors, a hands-free power trunk, power-adjustable pedals, and laminated rear glass. An available Climate Package makes the interior more comfortable with heated rear seats, a power rear sunshade, and heated windshield washer nozzles. There are also two different premium audio systems available.
Each of the three distinct Ghibli trims offers something unique under the hood. In the base GT, a twin-turbo V6 produces 345 horsepower. Maserati engineers worked some magic on the same turbo V6, boosting output to 424 horsepower for the Modena. Finally, a 580-horsepower twin-turbo V8 from Ferrari powers the Trofeo.
The Modena Q4 model is all-wheel drive (AWD), but the other Ghibli variants are rear-wheel drive (RWD). Every Ghibli uses an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering quick and smooth shifts.
We aren’t surprised by the fuel economy of any of the Ghibli powertrains. After all, Maserati put the emphasis on performance, rather than mileage.
