The 2022 Maserati Ghibli is a unique choice in midsize luxury sedans. You might default to one of the German offerings if you’re shopping in this class, but if you’re looking for something a little more exotic than a BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, this stylish Maserati is worth considering.
While the Ghibli excels in character, it lacks in most other categories. The interior quality is subpar for its price point. It’s more fun to drive than the average sedan, but the performance might not be as good as you expect from a Maserati. When compared to similarly priced sport sedans in this class, the Ghibli is lacking.
If you’ve always wanted a Maserati, the Ghibli is a competent sport sedan at a price that’s attainable for many luxury car shoppers. However, if you’re looking for the most exciting or most luxurious sedan at this price point, you may want to look elsewhere.
2022 Maserati Ghibli pricing starts at $46,464 for the Ghibli GT Sedan 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $79,495 when new. The range-topping 2022 Ghibli Trofeo Sedan 4D starts at $72,579 today, originally priced from $114,195.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2022 Maserati Ghibli models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
The Maserati Ghibli is a fun car to drive by anyone’s standards. However, it’s a bit lacking compared to the high-performance variants of other midsize luxury sedans like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The Ghibli has tons of character and one of the best exhaust notes you’ll hear anywhere, but cars like the BMW M5 and the AMG variants of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class are a cut above this Maserati.
The base engine is a twin-turbo V6. The Modena model is a worthwhile upgrade over the base GT trim if you can afford it since it has a nice performance boost. The turbocharged V8 in the Trofeo model turns the performance up another notch and we love the Skyhook adaptive suspension, but again, you can find better, more powerful sport sedans in this price range.
The driving comfort of the Ghibli is pretty good around town and on the highway. However, like the performance, the ride quality isn’t up to par with other luxury sedans in this price range.
The interior of the Maserati Ghibli is nice but not as luxurious as its price tag suggests. There are some clear cases of parts-bin sharing with lower-end Stellantis products in little details like the window switches and steering column stalks. There are plenty of excellent interior materials available like wood, carbon fiber, and even silk. The Ghibli is undoubtedly nicer than a Dodge or a Chrysler, but not nearly as nice as class leaders in this price range.
There’s plenty of space in the front seats for tall people, but the back seats are a little tight for a midsize sedan. The trunk is spacious, making the Ghibli a little more practical than you might expect.
Exterior styling is one of the strong suits of the Maserati Ghibli. This is a stylish sedan that refuses to be ignored, with elegant body lines and a bold front grille bearing a huge Maserati trident emblem.
The look of the Ghibli changes a bit depending on the trim. The mid-range Modena trim has a sportier front end than the base GT model, while the high-performance Trofeo model makes its presence known with dark exterior accents and massive red brake calipers.
The size of the Maserati Ghibli is in line with the rest of the midsize luxury sedan segment. Its dimensions are similar to the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6.
FERRARI-DERIVED ENGINES
The turbocharged V6 and V8 engines available under the hood deliver ample power and create highly satisfying sounds.
EXOTIC DESIGN
If you’re looking for a luxury sedan that won’t blend in with traffic, you’ll appreciate the striking design of the Ghibli.
The base GT trim of the Maserati Ghibli is pretty well equipped, which makes sense considering its price. Standard features include a twin-turbo V6, an 8-speed automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive, sport mode, a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, stainless steel exhaust with chrome tips, leather seats with the trident logo embroidered in the headrests, heated, power-adjustable front seats, a memory driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, a universal garage door opener, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The standard infotainment system is a 10.1-inch screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and navigation. Other standard tech features include wireless charging, remote start, and 8-speaker audio.
Standard driver assistance tech features include blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, full-speed adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, Highway Assist, and traffic sign recognition.
Upgrading to the Modena trim brings upgrades in aesthetics and performance. On top of an extra 79 horsepower and 59 lb-ft of torque, this trim adds unique sport bumpers and high-gloss piano black wood interior trim. This is the only trim of the Ghibli that’s available with all-wheel drive.
The Trofeo model brings the Ghibli to the next level of performance with a turbocharged V8 engine. Other performance upgrades include a Corsa drive mode and a Skyhook performance suspension with electronic damping control. There are plenty of exterior and interior touches unique to the Trofeo, making it more exclusive.
There are many options for customizing the interior with premium materials like carbon fiber, Zegna silk and leather, various wood trims, and much more. You can also change the exterior with different trim packages and wheel options.
An available Comfort & Convenience Package adds soft-close doors, a hands-free power trunk, power-adjustable pedals, and laminated rear glass. An available Climate Package makes the interior more comfortable with heated rear seats, a power rear sunshade, and heated windshield washer nozzles. There are also two different premium audio systems available.
Each of the three distinct trims of the Ghibli has something different under the hood. In the base GT trim, a twin-turbo V6 produces 345 horsepower. The same engine with a different tuning powers the Modena models, turning up the performance with 424 horsepower. Finally, the mighty Trofeo model is powered by a twin-turbo V8 pumping out 580 horsepower.
The Modena Q4 model is all-wheel drive, but every other variant of the Ghibli is rear-wheel drive. Every Ghibli uses an 8-speed automatic transmission delivering quick and smooth shifts.
Since the Ghibli is a luxury sedan that prioritizes performance, fuel economy is not excellent.
