The 2025 Lucid Gravity, a powerful new electric 3-row SUV, boasts a roomy 7-seat interior and a driving range in excess of 440 miles. Pricing starts at $96,550.
The Lucid Air arrived in 2022 as a high-tech electric luxury sedan aimed directly at the Tesla Model S. Now, Lucid is introducing an electric 3-row SUV called the Gravity. Although it’s built on its own dedicated chassis, the 2024 Lucid Gravity shares many of the Air’s virtues. The Gravity promises to deliver much of the Air’s thrilling performance, luxurious interior, and outstanding range in a practical and stylish 3-row SUV that seats seven adults comfortably without being overly large, thanks to a remarkably compact powertrain and battery pack. The new Lucid Gravity competes directly with other luxurious 3-row SUVs like the Tesla Model X and Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV, and perhaps even with the Rivian R1S and more mainstream Kia EV9.
The 2025 Lucid Gravity SUV will have a starting price of less than $80,000. This aims it right at the Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1S, but priced about $20,000 lower than the Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV.
We expect the Gravity to have a trim structure like that of the Lucid Air sedan, which has Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, and Sapphire trims. The performance and range get better as you go up the ladder of the model range.
If there’s an ultra-high-performance Lucid Gravity Sapphire model in the works, that might fetch around $250K.
We expect the 2025 Lucid Gravity SUV to go on sale in late 2024. Potential Gravity owners may register their interest in this potent new 3-row electric SUV at Lucid’s website.
The electric Lucid Gravity comes standard with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain. If the Lucid Air is an indicator, though, the Gravity may eventually get a tri-motor powertrain exceeding 1,200 horsepower. We may also see a more affordable, single-motor option.
With its promised range in excess of 440 miles, the 2025 Lucid Gravity will have the best maximum range in its class. For reference, the next longest-range EV on the market today is the Tesla Model S, which maxes out at 405 miles.
The Gravity uses Lucid’s 900V electrical architecture, which means ultra-fast charge rates. Using a DC fast charger, Gravity owners can add up t0 200 miles of range in only 15 minutes, says Lucid.
Based on our pleasant experience with the Lucid Air sedan, we expect the Lucid Gravity SUV to drive in a similarly fast and refined fashion. Silent and brisk acceleration is a characteristic of every luxury EV, and the Lucid is no exception. We’re banking on the new Gravity to feel just as effortless and quick, with a claimed ability to reach 60 mph in a fleet 3.5 seconds. And with optional air suspension, the ride quality of the new Gravity should remain smooth and comfortable in varied conditions. This suspension can be raised for extra off-road clearance or lowered for maximum performance and range.
The payload capacity of the Lucid Gravity is 1,500 pounds. Max tow capacity is a respectable 6,000 pounds.
We like the Lucid Gravity interior, which looks rich, handsome and uncluttered. Up to seven adults fit in its three rows, and both the second and third rows fold flat to create a spacious 112 cubic foot cargo well. The sliding second-row seats even get their own convenience tables, which extend back from the front seatbacks to add a little class and utility to the interior.
Perhaps the most eye-catching details are the Gravity’s flat-bottom steering wheel and Lucid’s Clearview Cockpit, which features a curved 34-inch OLED display that “floats” up high on the dash, just below the driver’s line of sight. There’s also a wide center console with a glass lid that slides open for extra storage.
While Lucid promises plenty of space for real adults in all three rows of seats, we don’t know how much cargo room the Gravity offers behind its third row. Nor do we know the capacity of the front trunk, which is large enough to be used as a forward-facing seat during tailgate parties.
As with the Lucid Air, the Lucid Gravity will receive regular over-the-air updates for continued vehicle improvement.
The organically shaped Gravity looks like a member of the Lucid family, for sure, with a nose similar to the Lucid Air’s but also a sleek, wagon-like body sporting a distinct rear spoiler protruding from the back of the roof. Lucid designers sought to fuse a pleasant design aesthetic with smart utility. They’ve succeeded. All told, we think the finished 2025 Lucid Gravity has a handsome and commanding presence, aided by a substantial nose, pronounced shoulders, and its sleek, elongated cabin.
