Positive Review

"Best Car Owned"

Starting with appearance, comfort, perfomance and silky smooth and quite on the road; this car is a joy. Also feel very secure and safe due to excellent handling quality. Loading convenience is outstanding due to height of storage (no back bending) and versitility of space configuration. Auto hatch opening is most helpful when carrying many packages to car. Nav system easy to use and includes phone bluetooth connection.

"Worst vehicle ever!"

I had the car for 3 years and each year I had at least $1400 worth of maintenance done. The final straw was in the third year when I had to have a headlight replaced - for $2,000. I had that replaced and sold it the very next day!

2008 Lexus RX 350 AWD 153,000 current miles

I purchased our 2008 Lexus RX 350 in 2010. It had approximately 41,000 miles at that time. I previously had a Rav 4 for many years so I was very impressed with Toyota. It was also trouble-free. We have always kept up with maintenance and have never had any problems with this Lexus. It has all the high-end features for that year. I don't even think you can find real leather seats anymore! It also has a memory setting for seat adjustment for 2 drivers. I don't see that anymore either. It is still a very beautiful (light blue) car. I have considered purchasing a newer Lexus RX350 ONLY because of the newer safety features and car play. But honestly, it's difficult to update when what I have is so trouble-free. I'm sold on Lexus. TOTALLY. 153,000 miles and still going as strong as ever. I highly recommend Lexus!

2006 Lexus RX400h SUV

All Leather interior, 5 CD changer, new brakes, 2 rear "entertainment centers" on front headrests, sun roof. Have replaced rear struts and recently replaced brake pads. Never touched engine except for oil changes. Runs like a top. AC needs repair. There are a couple dents.

Comfortable
Pros

It’s in the review

Cons

Navigation is a pain to place information in it.

The most comfortable ride especially on long trips. Rides really smooth, fuel temperature controls, sound system is amazing, lots of space, etc…… the only downfall is the navigation system. It could really use a facelift also to do more with the alphabet when putting information in.

A solid car.
Pros

Ice cold AC, Superb Construction, Amazing Engine

Cons

Bad body roll, Outdated infotainment, Sticky Dash,

Although not as performance orientated—quite a bit of body roll even on small turns at speed—the RX350 delivers an awesome sound at higher rpms but is just as capable a grocery hauler as any other vehicle; I wouldn’t hesitate to tour this vehicle ~2,000-3,000 miles at all. Comfortable with a better (subjectively) body styling than the successor generation. I’d recommend this car for anyone looking for a comfortable SUV with ice cold AC and more. A few mechanical issues I would look out for is Toyota’s well known VVT-i rattle that is common across these engines (2GR-FE), which delivers a cacophony of rattles upon cold-start. Typically caused by a locking pin backing out in the system that cold possibly result in catastrophic engine failure. Good thing is that it is relatively rare, but certainly something to look out for. Another would be the oil cooler line (towing models) and the VVT-i bank 1 line—the line closer to the firewall—this supplies oil to the aforementioned VVT-i system and both lines are made of rubber in the middle segments, which are prone to cracking and causing a swift loss of oil pressure and could drain the system relatively fast and, if on the highway, could destroy your engine. However, Toyota released some new lines made of metal. This metal line issue is also another thing to look out for in shopping for this vehicle—not deal-breaking material but something to consider in the long-run and pricing of the vehicle. One cosmetic issue is the infamous “sticky-dash” which causes the dash in most of these cars and many others across the Toyota/Lexus sphere to crack and get sticky when exposed to summer heat. As an added bonus, these dashes become highly reflective at night. Toyota has released a bulletin to replace these free of charge. However, it has long ended and the price of one can range up to $900 if your DIY, and ~$2000 if you want to get a dealer to replace it. It has also been said, though I don’t have it at 183000 miles, to also apply to door panels on the car. With that being said, although I think this car is for anyone looking for a comfortable luxury SUV, these are problems to look for in this car as any other car. It sounds bad but this car trouble-free is solid and has the capacity last up to 300,000 miles with no major issues.
