The 2024 Lexus NX is a compact luxury SUV with a full complement of the quality, safety, and resale value strengths typical of the marque. Pricing starts at $40,605.
We have no qualms recommending any Lexus. Our visitors regularly vote it the Most Trusted Luxury Brand. A safe choice in more ways than one, the Lexus NX is even among the more affordable models in its class.
It brings reliability and excellent resale values, while offering hybrid power and all-wheel drive. The Lexus dealership experience is usually quite enjoyable, as well. There are loyal Lexus buyers who won’t need swaying. As for the rest, put the NX on your list of vehicles to consider. Better still, use it as a benchmark.
Most of the 2024 NX has carried over from 2023. The only real differences are a few changes to the interior color schemes, such as coordinated elements in the front and rear door panels, along with minor changes for slightly nicer aesthetics.
The 2024 Lexus NX has a starting sticker price of $40,605, with the range-topping NX 450h+ F SPORT Handling kicking off at $61,155. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $2,219 to $4,263 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The Acura RDX shares many desirable qualities with the NX and starts at around the same price. The Infiniti QX50, Cadillac XT4, and Lincoln Corsair have similar starting prices, as well. The Genesis GV70, Volvo XC60, and Audi Q5 begin in the mid-40s, with the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC all closer to the high 40s.
Before buying a new Lexus NX luxury compact SUV, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying.
The Lexus NX has stronger resale values than any of the rivals mentioned above. This is typical for Lexus and the company has won our Best Resale Value Award many times. Recouping more money when you sell or trade can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on your next vehicle.
All 2024 NX variants share common traits. They’re comfortable and refined, bubbles of calm in seas of chaotic traffic. That’s despite the choice of drivetrains, going from merely OK (the NX 250) to powerful yet fuel-efficient (the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid).
F Sport versions have adaptive suspensions, but we think that trying to make a Lexus more sporty seems contrary to its basic character. If we were seeking a luxury compact SUV for long journeys and soothing commutes, then an NX could be in the frame. Although we’d prefer some extra sound insulation. The NX isn’t as quiet inside as it should be. For driving fun, we’d look elsewhere.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current collection of luxury compact SUVs, including this Lexus NX.
A few little changes to the cabin’s color schemes are about all that’s different from last year’s NX. The intention is for better looks.
Otherwise, it’s Lexus business as usual inside the 2024 NX. That means nice materials put together well, along with decent levels of standard equipment.
Because it’s an SUV, the NX has a raised driving position, and we’ve found that the front seats are particularly comfortable. There are plenty of places to stow things like phones, cups, and wallets.
Passenger space in the back is adequate, although its 36.1 inches of rear legroom ranks in the bottom half of the segment.
One thing we really like about the NX’s cargo space (22.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats; 46.9 cubic feet when they’re folded) is that it’s not compromised by hybrid hardware, even the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid with its bigger battery. Still, many contenders offer a bit more room throughout.
Infotainment system
It’s user-friendly and includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto phone integration as standard, plus Wi-Fi, Amazon Music compatibility, and a digital assistant that understands voice commands given in natural speech. A 9.8-inch touchscreen is standard, with a 14-inch version available.
Heated front seats
These are standard across the 2024 NX range. They’re so welcome on cold mornings.
All-wheel drive
Apart from the base NX 250, all-wheel drive is standard, providing extra reassurance in slippery conditions.
Luxury package
This options bundle includes hands-free tailgate operation, perforated leather upholstery, ventilated seats, and front/rear parking sensors with automatic emergency braking.
Mark Levinson audio
The 2024 NX offers the option of a 17-speaker/1,800-watt surround-sound system from Mark Levinson, a brand that has entertained and delighted many Lexus occupants over the years.
Digital rearview mirror
An option, but a worthwhile one. It shows a clear, wide-angled view behind — unhindered by heads, cargo, or rear pillars.
If the budget allowed, we would probably pass on the NX 250’s lackluster 203-horsepower engine. Especially if we lived somewhere hilly. It would sound labored trying to get up those slopes.
The NX 250 is the only variant that comes with front-wheel drive (FWD) as standard, offering all-wheel drive (AWD) as an option. The rest of the range has AWD as part of the package. Also, the NX 250 can get by with regular gasoline, while the premium stuff is recommended with all the others.
The difference between the NX 350 and 350h is that the latter is a hybrid. Lexus (and parent company Toyota) knows its way around hybrid technology as well as anyone, so the 350h is definitely worth considering. Although the 350h has less horsepower than the 350, the added electric motor will bolster torque, experienced as thrust. Lexus/Toyota does not quote total torque figures for its hybrids.
The NX 450h+ is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a beefier battery and motor than a regular hybrid, enabling a useful distance covered in electric-only mode. In this case, 37 miles. Keep the battery topped up overnight, and/or at work during the day, and the NX 450h+ could function as an electric vehicle most of the time, with the onboard gasoline engine ready to contribute whenever necessary.
Maximum towing capacity for the NX lineup is 2,000 pounds.

The Lexus new-vehicle warranty is like that of many other luxury automakers — four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. Powertrains are covered a little better than some, though, at six years or 70,000 miles. Hybrid hardware and batteries have warranties of eight years or 100,000 miles. The first service is also free, up to one year or 10,000 miles.
The Lexus NX has been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0
One of the many positive aspects of Lexus vehicles is the high level of standard safety equipment. This array includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and intersection assistance, lane-departure alerts with active steering inputs, and lane-tracing assistance to keep the NX between the markings.
Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
Another standard feature in the 2024 NX luxury compact SUV, this warns drivers of nearby vehicles in lanes on either side, as well as anything approaching while reversing out of a parking space.
Dynamic cruise control with Curve Speed Management
Also part of the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 array, this adaptive cruise control system communicates with the navigation system to determine when a curve is coming up and will adjust speed accordingly.
