Positive Review
I have been extremely happy with this car. Bought at 179K miles, still sounds lovely at 203K. Interior comfortable, controls/shifter/radio all so handy and intuitively placed. Stock speakers are impressive. Torque is fantastic. Tons of fun, especially freeway/passing. Wants a lot of caution in rain/snow, because she'll be out of control quick. Handling is wonderful. Wears tires fairly quickly. Xenon headlights are awesome. Gas mileage as advertised. I'd recommend the car to anyone.
Critical Review
Absolutely the worst car I ever owned! I live in Chicago and it does not handle snow well at all - needs snow tires which the dealer neglected to tell me. If you live in a mild climate, might be ok.. Do NOT buy this car if you leave anywhere where you get snow.

My kid gave me the Lexus. it's a 2002, driven maybe once a week a few miles to get groceries. 152,000 miles. now my kid, bless her heart, gave me a Nissen. The Lexus air conditioner went out and I can't afford to get a new unit. it has sufficient power although the slight hesitation on acceleration bothers me. mechanics do not know what to do about it. new air cleaner and spark plugs didn't fix the hesitation. I like the size and feel of the body. I drove it for 5 or 6 yrs. there is also a new battery. there is a check engine light that stays on. we don't know what it means. there is a slight oil leak under midway the car, which my brother says is because of the gasket wearing out. It is after all 22 yrs old. cosmetically the drivers seat ripped so it has black duct tape on it. the other body feature is I turned a corner too sharp and scraped a dent under the passenger door, can hardly notice it though. appraisals are coming in at 2,000 to 4,000, so thinking 3,000 I could get. Somebody who loves the Lexus and can fix it up.
The car is unbelievably very reliable and needs minimum maintenance. My car has 335,000 and still runs strong almost like new.
Fun too daily drive, fun too drift, fun too autox
A pillar blind spot.
The car has only left me stranded one time my entire ownership. It sustains quite a spirited daily drive. Overall amazing car. Wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Fun to drive! Easy to Modify! Reliable! Handling!
MPG’s, Fragile Wheel Speed Sensor = No ABS&TCS
The car is fun and great for everyday driving. The interior is nice and comfortable. This vehicle has aged extremely well!
I bought this car with 181,000 from my best friend 4.5 years ago. This car has never let me down once, it’s on its original engine still. I’ve taken multiple long distance trips and I drive it to work and back everyday, 6 day’s a week 75 miles per day. The only thing I’ve ever replaced is maintenance stuff. I’ll be sad the day this car starts for the last time.
reliability and handling
cup holder and center arm rest suck
I got this car in 2003 as a 2 year old car with about 40K on it. I have owned it now for 17 years, and it has been amazing. I drove it for about 70k, then let my nephew that lives with me drive it for another 100K, he finally graduated from college, got his own car. I was fixing it for sale, and fell back in love. This thing just does not break. I put a new timing belt, new hoses, flushed everything, and have put another 8K on it. It handles well, looks good, is very comfortable and easy to drive. I am just going to keep it forever, drive it around town and enjoy it and my old age.
2JZ, Handling, Reliability, true RWD
Tight front seats for 6'1 250
I have a 2004 IS, I searched for many months for one to pop up with low miles in the Dallas area, car had only 82k miles on it, it is such a beautiful car to daily drive to work. You will find yourself looking at other cars so happy you chose the OG Is300. Just something special here. The car has character. And not to mention slap a Greddy catback on it and it makes just the right noises. Buy the car already - Mycameron2323 on IG if you'd like to see 2Jay
