What Owners are Saying About the 2001 Lexus ES
"Greatest Lexus Ever but Weaker Transmission"
"I have owned this ES300 since 2014 when it had around 200K miles. Its now 301K miles and still driving great after 19 years of operation. The only flaw in 1999-2001 model years is its weaker 4-speed transmission which will breakdown sooner or later. For a vehicle of this class, it should have been a 5-speed at least. I was still lucky to keep it running somehow until 295K until the time for a transmission swap. The engine still runs great. Timing Belt replacement is easy as a DIY. Overall, a great Lexus mark with a simpler yet elegant design. You won't find such vehicles anymore."
"Great Car 317700 Miles later. Going strong!"
"Has been in the family for 21 years. Very reliable. The only major issue is the screen of the radio blacked out. Radio still sounds great! Stations change you just don’t know which one you are on. Would definitely by another same year and model!"
"This is the best car I have ever owned."
"I bought my car Sept 12, 2001 - very sad day in US history, but it has been the absolute best car. I am not looking forward to giving up this fine beauty when the time comes. It's a Coach Edition with onyx emblems. I must get 2 offers a month from strangers asking me if I would like to sell. The only complaint I have is squeaky brakes, which I have had since day one. The maintenance has been regular so I have not experienced any horror stories yet. I will be replacing a timing belt next week, but that is me not wanting to wait until the last moment - the repairs all have been minimal (oil changes, brakes, a battery, tires). If Lexus still builds a car like this one, I'll buy another one! It's been such a good car."
