The stylish 2024 Range Rover Velar is the small-midsize Range Rover SUV with a luxurious interior, many standard features, and impressive off-road capabilities, of course. Pricing starts at $62,775.
The 2024 Range Rover Velar is something of a Goldilocks in the Range Rover family. If the Range Rover Evoque is too small and the Range Rover Sport is too big, the Velar is just right. It’s a midsize luxury SUV with all of the virtues of the Range Rover model line, like distinctive styling, a luxurious interior, and a satisfying blend of on-road comfort with off-road capability. This is a unique option for drivers looking for something a little different than the more mainstream German SUVs in this class, like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of luxury midsize SUVs, including the Range Rover Velar.
The Range Rover Velar gets a modest facelift and an updated interior for the 2024 model year. It has a new grille and headlight design reminiscent of the recently updated full-size Range Rover, and the rear fascia is also revised.
The updated interior has a more minimalist vibe accentuated by a new curved 11.4-inch infotainment system replacing the outgoing dual-screen system. Another interior update is a newly available Kvadrat wool blend upholstery for drivers who want a sustainable, vegan interior.
The 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar has a starting sticker price of $62,775, with the range-topping Range Rover Velar P400 Dynamic HSE kicking off at $79,675. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $3,855 to $5,171 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

The Range Rover Velar is on the more expensive side of midsize luxury SUVs, along with the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Some more affordable choices in this class include the Lexus RX, Lincoln Aviator, and Genesis GV80.
Before buying a Range Rover Velar, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Land Rover Range Rover Velar resale value is about average for the segment.
In our testing, we found the Range Rover Velar both comfortable and agile. It’s sure-footed when hustling around corners but still smooth and quiet in straight-line driving. Some SUVs in this class are smoother still, but the Velar strikes a nice balance of comfort and agility. It’s especially comfy with the optional Electronic Air Suspension system. We love the extra power of the optional six-cylinder engine, but power delivery can be a bit uneven when coming off the line, for instance. The Range Rover Velar’s off-road performance is admirable for a road-oriented luxury SUV. All-wheel drive comes standard, along with the Terrain Response 2 system with several drive modes for different off-road driving situations. This makes the Velar a great choice for snowy climates and occasional trips off the beaten path.
We like the updated interior design of the Range Rover Velar. Land Rover consistently produces high-quality interiors, and the Velar’s cabin is no exception. It’s a comfortable interior with a design that’s both minimalist and high-tech. The outgoing dual-screen infotainment system was a bit busy, and a clean 11.4-inch curved display with few physical buttons replaced it. The boxy design of the Range Rover Velar yields a spacious interior. We were pretty comfortable in the front and rear seats, and the cargo space is about average for a midsize luxury SUV. A strong suit of this interior is the long list of features that come standard on every model. Standard features include perforated-grained leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a digital gauge cluster, a Meridian premium audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. An interesting new option for 2024 is Kvadrat wool blend upholstery, which is both luxurious and sustainable.
The Range Rover Velar is a sleek and classy-looking luxury SUV. The aesthetic is tweaked for 2024 to keep it in line with the current Range Rover design language. It’s not a radical departure from prior Velar models, but the revised grille, headlights, and rear end bring a tasteful update. Models with “Dynamic” in the name have a sportier look with more aggressive bumpers and different wheels.
The size of the Range Rover Velar is somewhere between compact and midsize. It’s slightly smaller than most midsize offerings in this class, like the BMW X5, Lexus RX, and Land Rover’s own Range Rover Sport.
Off-road talent
In addition to a standard all-wheel-drive system, the Range Rover Velar comes with features giving it the off-road capability to live up to its name. It has the Terrain Response 2 system with off-road drive modes and All Terrain Progress Control, which is like low-speed cruise control for off-road driving.
Pivi Pro infotainment system
A new 11.4-inch curved screen is the centerpiece of the updated interior in the 2024 Range Rover Velar. This Pivi Pro system is user-friendly and loaded with features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, and more.
Panoramic sunroof
A panoramic sunroof comes standard on every Range Rover Velar, which opens up the luxurious interior, adding an airy feeling to the cabin.
Interactive Driver Display
The standard Interactive Driver Display in the Range Rover Velar is a customizable digital gauge cluster. It can show off-road info, entertainment, and active safety data, and the whole screen can turn into a navigation map.
Sustainable materials
On top of the leather you’d expect from a luxury SUV, the Range Rover Velar has some interesting upholstery options, like a sustainable Kvadrat wool blend and other leather-free alternatives.
P400 powertrain
The optional P400 powertrain in the Range Rover Velar is a lively turbocharged 6-cylinder engine producing 395 horsepower giving this SUV a 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds.
The Range Rover Velar is outfitted with a 247-horsepower 4-cylinder engine as standard equipment, upgradeable to a powerful 395-horsepower 6-cylinder engine that manages similar fuel economy ratings. In both cases, power runs to all four wheel via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
This is standard in every new Velar luxury SUV. If the system senses an imminent collision with a vehicle in front, it will warn the driver and then apply the brakes if the driver hasn’t responded in time.
Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
This standard system keeps drivers aware of what’s happening in adjacent lanes and watches for vehicles approaching at right angles when reversing the Velar out of a parking space.
Adaptive cruise control with steering assist
The steering assist part is optional in the 2024 Velar; the adaptive cruise control part is standard. Together, they keep the Velar in its intended lane and at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, resuming the preset speed when conditions allow.
