Updated January 30, 2025
The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport gets a complete redesign that includes a longer wheelbase, a sleek exterior, four available engines, and all-terrain hardware like adaptive off-road cruise control and standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
However, whether Range Rover Sport owners are willing to take their expensive midsize luxury SUV over jagged rocks and through muddy bogs is another question. With a starting price of $83,000, the base Sport is now roughly $12,000 more expensive than the previous generation.
The standard powertrain includes a 3.0-liter mild-hybrid inline-6 that produces 355 horsepower in the P360 SE and 395 horsepower in the P400 SE Dynamic trim. The P440e Autobiography uses this same engine but pairs it with an electric motor and 31.8-kWh battery pack to generate 434 horsepower and, better still, 48 miles of electric-only driving range.
Land Rover says a completely electrified version of the Sport will arrive in 2024.
For anyone who wants undiluted, gasoline-fed performance, there’s an available twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 in the P530 First Edition. With 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, Land Rover calculates this SUV needs only 4.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 mph.
2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport pricing starts at $69,037 for the Range Rover Sport P360 SE Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $84,475 when new. The range-topping 2023 Range Rover Sport P530 First Edition Sport Utility 4D starts at $87,151 today, originally priced from $122,975.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
Stay tuned for a full driving report of the 2023 Range Rover Sport, including impressions of the mild-hybrid inline-6, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and the potent twin-turbo V8.
Based on previous experience with the Range Rover Sport, we expect the updated model will have the same blend of straight-line speed and well-behaved ride over all types of surfaces.
A standard air suspension and features like rear-wheel steering and Terrain Response drive mode selector help ensure the Sport has the mechanical hardware for anything from a city commute to adventures where paved roads come to an end.
The Range Rover Sport cabin is filled with quality leather and trim pieces that remind you why this luxury SUV carries the price tag that it does. Leather seating is standard, though a vegan-friendly Ultrafabric material is optional for anyone who prefers an animal-free interior — excluding household pets who want to come along for the Range Rover ride, of course.
There is seating for five and this year’s stretch in wheelbase adds about 1 extra inch of legroom in the second row. Gone are the optional tiny third-row seats that were previously offered. It’s not a loss, since they were extremely cramped even for kids.
Facing the driver is a digital gauge display that’s flanked by a 13.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Climate control is done via two rotary dials located just below this screen. It’s a fresh and modern take on a high-end luxury SUV interior, complete with plenty of glossy black mirror-finish trim that will require an ample supply of microfiber cleaning cloths to keep everything looking spiffy and smudge-free.
Can an SUV be both understated and ostentatious at the same time? If so, then the 2023 Range Rover Sport manages this stylish balancing act with aplomb.
Slim headlights — the thinnest ones ever fitted to a Land Rover vehicle, apparently — complement a front grille that’s also noticeably thinner than what you got on the previous Range Rover Sport. From the side, the flush-mounted glass and flush door handles create a smooth and fuss-free design, one that’s dramatically different from many rival SUVs that use gaping front grilles and bulging fenders to grab attention.
At the rear you’ll find equally sleek LED taillights on either side of “Range Rover” badging that spans the width of the Sport’s tail. Wheels range in size from standard 21-inch units up to massive 23-inch alloys available on upper trims.
TERRAIN RESPONSE SYSTEM
The Range Rover Sport’s Terrain Response System allows the driver to customize the dynamics to suit everything from snow and sand, to mud and rocky terrain. While Land Rover SUVs are expensive pieces of machinery, the brand built its reputation on building go-anywhere vehicles. Don’t let that elegant exterior fool you; the 2023 Sport can venture places that would leave most SUVs stuck.
ADAPTIVE OFF-ROAD CRUISE CONTROL
Speaking of going off-road, the adaptive off-road cruise control allows the driver to focus on steering the Sport over rugged terrain, all while throttle and braking inputs are handled by the vehicle. Aided by features like a 3D-surround view camera system, the Range Rover Sport can be positioned with pinpoint accuracy.
With a starting price of $83,000, it’s fair to expect you’re going to get a solid share of standard features on the Range Rover Sport. The entry-level P360 SE trim is fitted with comfort touches like leather seating, dual-zone climate control, 20-way power-operated front seats with heating, heated and power-reclining rear seats, and an electrically-adjustable steering column.
Safety is taken into consideration, too, and every Range Rover Sport comes with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, driver drowsiness monitor, lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, traffic sign recognition and speed limit control, and blind-spot monitors.
Finally, when it comes to tech features the 2023 Sport is equipped with its 13.1-inch curved infotainment screen, a 13.7 digital gauge display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, satellite and HD Radio, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and voice commands.
As one of Land Rover’s most capable and expensive models, the Range Rover Sport can be optioned with a vast range of items to make it faster, more tenacious when off-roading, and a whole lot more opulent.
Jumping upward to the top-of-the-line First Edition trim, for $121,500 you get features like 23-inch alloy wheels, semi-aniline leather seating, 22-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and cooling and massage functionality, quad-zone climate control, a head-up instrument display, and soft-close doors.
The First Edition is also fitted with what’s called the Stormer Handling Pack. This combines several features, such as all-wheel steering to aid in agility, electronic active roll control paired with switchable-volume air springs, and electronic active differential with torque vectoring.
Other notable add-ons include a rear-seat entertainment system, an advanced tow assist package, carbon fiber trim on the center console and door panels, plus a 29-speaker Meridian sound system with 1,430 watts of amp power.
The Range Rover Sport P360 SE and P400 SE Dynamic both utilize a turbocharged inline-6 mild-hybrid engine that’s coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. In the P360 you get 355 horsepower, while the P400 uncorks a total of 395 horsepower.
And yes, it does strike us as funny that each of these two trims is exactly 5 horsepower shy of its numerical name. But who’s counting, right?
The P400e Autobiography also uses this inline-6 as the basis for its powertrain, but adds a 105-kW electric motor and 31.8-kWh battery pack. The result is 434 horsepower and 619 lb-of torque to go along with its estimated 48 miles of electric driving range.
Sitting atop the heap, at least in terms of horsepower output, the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 sends 523 horsepower to all four wheels. This is enough to scoot this sizable SUV from zero to 60 mph in only 4.3 seconds, and onward to an electronically limited top speed of 150 mph.
In 2024, Land Rover says a completely electrified version of the Range Rover Sport will be added. At the time of writing, the EPA has not tested the 2023 Range Rover Sport’s fuel economy and EV range, though these figures will be known soon.

3D surround view camera
This standard feature gives a bird’s-eye view of the Range Rover Sport and is invaluable when navigating tight parking spots. Front and rear parking sensors are also included on all trims.
Blind-spot monitoring
Another popular active safety feature, blind-spot monitoring comes standard and warns the driver if another vehicle is alongside but unseen. Even in a high-riding SUV with a commanding view of the road, this can be extremely useful, particularly when changing lanes at highway speed.
ClearSight ground view
Standard on the new Range Rover Sport, this camera-based system allows the driver to virtually see through the hood of the vehicle and spot any obstacles. Geared toward off-road driving, the display shows an unobstructed view of what’s directly under the front of the Range Rover and allows for added delicacy and safety when traversing rugged terrain.
