The 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a premium subcompact SUV. Even in this upmarket world, the Evoque resides at the higher levels. It retains some of the imperiousness of larger Range Rover vehicles, all of the style, and much of the interior plushness. Plus an ability to tackle challenging terrain that may send rivals floundering. Yet it does so within a town-friendly footprint.
While it might seem nitpicky to fault a subcompact crossover for tight rear space, the BMW X1 is a lot roomier in the back. For buyers who desire the whole Range Rover aura in a smaller package, however, the Evoque works just fine.
2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque pricing starts at $31,209 for the Range Rover Evoque P250 S Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $44,950 when new. The range-topping 2022 Range Rover Evoque P300 R-Dynamic HST Sport Utility 4D starts at $38,967 today, originally priced from $55,075.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
Some premium subcompact crossover SUVs handle really well, like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. Others, like the Audi Q3 and this 2022 Evoque, tune their suspension more for comfort than cornering prowess. That’s not a criticism, more an observation.
However, the Range Rover Evoque SUV does include brake-based torque vectoring. It means that the inside rear wheel receives a subtle touch of automatic braking to help the Evoque track around a corner with optimum stability and efficiency.
Some car companies accomplish the same result through their all-wheel-drive (AWD) systems, which the Evoque has as standard. But for whatever reason, Land Rover chose this method instead.
Even though the Evoque has an uptown charisma, it’s deceptively good in the dirt. Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system is standard, optimizing all-wheel-drive ability with selectable settings for mud/ruts, grass/gravel/snow, sand, rock crawling, and soft/waterlogged ground. Also included is All-Terrain Progress Control, a cruise control system especially for off-road conditions. It handles the throttle and gearshifts, the driver just has to steer.
Range Rover knows how to create a plush, high-end cabin. Leather upholstery comes in at the entry level. Materials, in general, are high quality. And despite the subcompact size, the Evoque still has the raised driving position of an SUV.
Accommodation in the rear, however, is tight. The rear legroom is only 33.8 inches. The BMW X1, by comparison, has 37 inches.
Cargo space is similarly slight. Behind the rear seats (which split and fold in 40/20/40 fashion) is an area of 21.5 cubic feet. Folding the seats down creates 50.5 cu ft of space. The X1, meanwhile, manages 27.1 and 58.7 cu ft, respectively.
Range Rover knows how to create a posh, high-end exterior. This second-generation Evoque SUV made its debut in 2020. Predictably, it looks more mature than its predecessor, while being a recognizable member of the Range Rover family.
The flush-fitting door handles are a cool touch. Anything at the SE level and above brings premium LED headlights with the daytime running lights creating a bespoke signature. The R-Dynamic versions have their own front-end treatments. And the new P300 HST has black exterior elements including a contrasting black roof.
CLEARSIGHT REARVIEW MIRROR
This optional item uses a camera to provide a wide-angle view behind the Evoque SUV, unhindered by the heads of rear passengers, piled-high cargo and/or the rear pillars.
ACTIVITY KEY
This shockproof and waterproof option is worn on the wrist while the driver engages in, say, surfing or rock climbing, safe in the knowledge that the normal keys are out of harm’s way. Just touch the Evoque’s rear badge with the Activity Key and the vehicle is unlocked.
The P250 S is the most affordable version of the Range Rover Evoque SUV. It comes with Terrain Response 2, All-Terrain Progress Control, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights/taillights, rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient cabin lighting.
Newly standard this year are heated front seats, keyless entry, wireless charging, and a powered tailgate.
The infotainment system has a 10-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration.
Safety features include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, front/rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assistance, road sign recognition, and an adaptive speed limiter.
The R-Dynamic S version of the Evoque has virtually the same equipment, with a few cosmetic differences inside and out, plus perforated leather on the steering wheel.
If the budget allows, we prefer the SE trim. It adds 20-in. alloy wheels, self-leveling headlights with automatic high beams, memory settings for the driver’s seat, a second 10-inch screen for the interactive driver display, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a clear exit monitor.
Once again, it’s a similar story with the R-Dynamic SE. The P300 HST has the more powerful engine while adding a sliding panoramic roof, a heated steering wheel wrapped in simulated suede, and a 400-watt/12-speaker Meridian audio system.
Oddly, this top trim doesn’t have blind-spot monitoring as standard. It’s optional, along with adaptive cruise control.
All versions of the Range Rover Evoque luxury SUV are eligible for the once-standard 360-degree camera system that also includes wade sensors and ClearSight Ground View, which shows the terrain immediately under the front bumper.
A Technology pack includes a head-up display and the ClearSight rearview mirror. A Cold Climate pack brings a heated windshield, heated washer jets, high-pressure headlight washers, and a heated steering wheel.
Other options include an adaptive suspension, hands-free tailgate operation, the Activity Key, and a 650-watt/14-speaker Meridian surround-sound system.
There’s a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine under the hood of every 2022 Evoque SUV. The P250 drivetrain, which is in most models, has 246 horsepower. The new P300 develops 296 horsepower.
We call the P300 new, but this setup — with a mild hybrid system — was discontinued last year, so it’s more revived than new.
In both cases, a 9-speed automatic transmission sends muscle to a standard all-wheel-drive system.

Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking
This standard system works at low speeds (such as city driving) and uses a camera to read the events ahead. If a collision seems imminent, it sounds an alert. If the drivers fails to react in time, the brakes are applied automatically.
Blind-Spot Assist
Otherwise known as blind-spot monitoring. It comes in at the SE level, although we would prefer to see it as standard across the lineup at the Evoque’s prices. It informs drivers of any vehicles in the blind spots, as well as any traffic approaching while reversing out of a parking space. A Clear Exit Monitor is also included, warning all occupants of possible hazards when they’re about to open the Evoque’s doors.
Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
Optional in all versions of the 2022 Evoque luxury SUV, this cruise control system adapts to the speed of traffic, keeping a safe distance to the vehicle ahead — right down to a complete stop if necessary. When the road clears, the preset speed is resumed.
