Positive Review
I have loved this car. Just today someone asked me about it, commenting on what a great brand it is. If you are on a tight budget for repairs, pass on Land Rover. If you want endless style and want to drive something that not everyone else on the road is driving, I don't know of a better fit. Be prepared for expensive repair bills. Headlamp bulb: $103.00. Oil change: $185.00. Everything costs more and many mechanics will hate your car. Take it to the dealer and pay 2x as much. This has been a solid vehicle that has never left me stranded.
Critical Review
When this vehicle was not in the shop and it was running it was a dream but that dream was a nightmare. It was in the shop so much after year 5 of owning it. I kept dumping money into it $2000 here $1500 there and that was not to include reg maintenance. With every time I had the hope, I would not have to drop more into it again anytime soon. It never stopped, I truly loved the look at this vehicle but I had to stop putting money into repairs. I sold it to day I payed over $55,000 for it and 9 years later at trade in the best offer I got was around $7000. :(

I am the 3rd owner but the 1st & 2nd owners are. The 1st and older sister bought it brand new from a dealership in Florida and gave it to her younger sister the 2nd owner. She “the 2nd owner” lives in Springfield, MO, in the country and hardly ever drove it, her & her husband already had 2 other vehicles. So she sold it to me.
Quiet, comfortable, powerful, reliable, capable
If 'big stuff' goes bad, prepare to pay to fix it
Like the generation of Land Rovers of its time, the 2006 LR3 has been, for me, a perfect match of smooth, quiet, comfort, while exuding confident control, like you're riding on rails, while possessing the substantial off-road capabilities that Land Rover has become famous for. The LR3 is so much more of a vehicle than the Discovery I and Discovery II, which it replaced. There is a night & day difference that you can only detect when you drive the vehicles. The LR3 brings more of the pure confidence on snow and ice, much more like its big brother, the Range Rover. You truly can go anywhere with these vehicles and do so in luxury that defies the muscular underpinnings of the vehicle. During our 8 years of ownership, the optional 3rd row jump-seating has come in very handy in allowing us to have 7 people enjoy the fun of a snowboarding excursion and hauling our big crew and our boat to the lake. the back seats fold perfectly flat for hauling home trees/plants, or home improvement project materials. The luggage rack and tailgate ladder are heavy duty and very useful for hauling as well.
Great stereo system
Has had multiple expensive fixes
Bought used in 2018 with 130,000. Since then, my air ride suspension has went out as well as the starter and have both been replaced. My vehicle can be doggy at times when first started or after sitting at a stop light. It does seem to sway a bit more than most SUV’s while on highways. Other than that, I absolutely love the comfort, style, and sound system in the vehicle. I have even slept in it while camping. Put the seats down with some blankets & watched a movie on the tv! Luxury at a affordable price
Quality product, dependable, comfortable!
Cost
I bought this SUV used in 2006. This car is user friendly, rides well, comfortable seats, excellent visibility, handles well in town, open road and off road. One of the best cars I have owned. Still after all these years performs well as a daily driver with everything still working. I prefer this car over my 2011 Landrover Lr4. Do not hesitate to buy a Landover. Top quality!
Big, Roomy, Great Looking, Awesome Off Road
Fuel economy but it is huge.
We had one of these in South Africa as well as a Defender 110. Very comfortable ride, 7 seats (Rear Seats fold into the floor), and plenty of cargo space with the rear seats folded away. On road it is a champ with smooth ride at highway speed and a great stereo system. Off road it is a beast that will take you places the you wouldn't think possible in an LR3. Great vehicle, moderately bad fuel economy, but overall a good value.
Nice ride
Maint $800 year.
Simply FIRST have a dealer check out the car then treat yourself to a very nice ride! I have owned many cars including three Mercedes E350s My 2006 purchased used off lease in 2008 LR3 rides and drives like the E-350. Just have an authorizes dealer check it out. Buy one under 100k miles then enjoy a cheap luxurious and fun car for $7,000to $9,000. I still own the 2006 Lr3 with 233,000 miles $800 year average maint. You are welcome!
I luv being able to lower the vehicle
I slide too and fro on the hard driver seat when manuevering around the Wilde Beasts (the other vehicles on the road. hahaha)
Perfect of road toy
Gas consumption
Perfect off road, towing capacity and smooth ride both on open roads or street...love this cars, just find a good mechanic, don't use dealership fire repairs.
