I am a twenty year old college student who needed an affordable and RELIABLE car, and saw an awesome deal for this car. I put over 30k on it (90-125k) and have only had to do regular maintenance. This is such a blessing for someone who cannot afford to do repairs or have the time to fix them. Unfortunately someone hit me last week and totaled my beloved car. Though I now have the chance to "upgrade" I am genuinely disappointed and sad to see this car go. I would recommend this car to anyone in a heartbeat!!! Only annoyance is Kia put out a warrantied recall for the airbag sensor embedded in the seat if your airbag light tuns on, which mine did. This means that the airbags will not sense if you have a child in the front seat and the airbags WILL deploy in the event of a crash. However, this is covered under the recall, just perhaps time hassle if it happens to you.

Critical Review
This car was great until suddenly, the tranny decided to go out at just under 58,000 miles. I saw on here that I was not the only one that had to go through that. I took pretty good care of it so this was a shock to me. Good sized car for a mid-twenties someone just starting their lives out. Good for road trips and has a decent amount of pick up. I would still have this car if it weren't for the engine woes...

Bought an 07 Spectra in 2019 for $2100. It had I think 134,000 miles on it and one owner. I have the least to do with the mileage but for the 6 years I've had it I've faithfully changed the oil and that is it. The car starts every single time with the exception of needing an ignition selinoid (sp.) there was not one time this car didn't start. Since buying it I've replaced the brakes twice, the alternator, a valve cover gasket, air conditioner relay, and a battery. These are the least expensive hassle free car repairs i think I've ever made in any vehicle relationship. this car does not go fast. Couldn't even if I wanted it to. Quietest engine on the block. This car is a low maintenance dream. It now has 230,000 miles still doesn't leak, will need brakes in maybe another year, but couldn't be more content with this car.

Overall it was a great car. I loved it ! leather seats. I bought it bc I really needed a car. Not too bad when driving around the city. It was my everyday car, from school, and work.

Took care of this car (even changed the oil myself the last ten years) and now it took care of me. Head on collision yesterday and walked away with soreness of bruises. Totaled. Exactly 15 years and no months ☹️ RIP

I have an 05 spectra 5 5 speed, and it is the best car I have ever owned. My aunt purchased the car new, and I purchased it from her at 150k. The entire time my aunt owned it, all she did was a water pump/timing belt at 100k, clutch and hydraulics at 150k, and regular maintenance like battery, tires, etc. My aunt sold me the car with 160k on it back in 2016, about 5 years ago, for 500$. It had nearly bald tires, a corroded battery, it leaked coolant and it grinded in second gear. When I bought it, I replaced the tires, battery, battery terminals, and I tightened up the radiator hose which stopped the coolant leak. I also replaced the gear oil in the manual transmission, and the grinding in second gear stopped entirely. Apparently that oil had never been replaced, even when the clutch was done. After these handful of repairs (totalling all of 500$) I drove the car from 150k to 210k without a single issue. As of now, my motor mounts are starting to go out and I am getting a code for an O2 sensor, but the car still runs perfectly. With any luck it will last to 300k. I used to think Kias were throwaway cars, but this car changed my mind. I do however highly recommend the 5 speed, as I have heard bad stories about the automatic transmissions.

Bought this car in 2008 wirh 9000 miles on it This little has never failed me and has had very few repairs having to be made, I wanted a truck, but my wife said the kia must go, and I said I'll just keep my spectra.
