Positive Review
I am just turning 70 with some physical problems like sciatica and lower back pain. I am about 5'6"tall. I have been looking for a small hatchback for about a year and test drove about 8-9 cars that fit the bill. For ME the priorities were 1. Seat comfort 2. Ability to see over stearing wheel 3. Roominess for errands at home lumber stores, etc 4. Clearance off the ground---ie. some cars hit curb when parking 5. Fun to drive 6. Last but not least: price under $25k There are a number of cars that have better gas mileage and equal roominess, but only one other of them had seats with power assisted drivers seat and lumbar support because they cater to a younger crowd. Kia hit the mark with this car for my age group as well as younger with all the cool technology. It is easy to get in and out of, is peppy enough to pass if needed, has plenty of room, tight enough handling and VERY comfortable. Could have a little better gas milage, but not the make or break feature for me. The warranty is great as well. I love this car every time I get in it!
Critical Review
The engine on my 2017 Kia Soul + seized. All of my maintenance was up to date. The Kia service department wants to charge me $6,000 for repairs. I am the second owner of the vehicle. Kia won't back their own product. There is no warranty coverage. So now I have an expressive lump of metal... Last Kia I will ever buy (was my second).

I bought this 2018 Kia Soul ! last last July, I thought it was just the base model because looking up the VIN never showed me the ! version, but I guess that was my first mistake. At first it was great, but at the beginning of the year, it started revving super high and not wanting to shift in certain gears. At first I thought it was the transmission going out. I come to figure out it was the dumb dual clutch system screwing up. They have had my car for 2 weeks trying to fix this and its costing me up to 3500 to fix, and I'm a poor college student. Safe to say, just Stay away from the Dual clutch and turbo version, its very unreliable and will break on you. I haven't even had the car for a year.
Recently, because of vision problems, I have given my car to my son who lives in Indiana. I am retired to Florida. I bought the car new in Florida. The car has never been wrecked and has no dents or scratches. It has been maintained by the dealership where it was purchased. It has rarely been 50 miles outside of the retirement community where I have lived. I also have a daughter, and I primarily want a quote so I can fairly compensate her an amount close to your quote. Thank you.
Only had the car for a year and a half brought at 78,000 and is currently at 98,000 miles. I've already had 2 Cadillac converters replaced and my engine rods. Overall all a good car but when problems come they come. If you have money saved up its a good car if not don't buy this car.
Gas mileage, comfortable
Purchased back in 2020, my Soul has been great. Kept up maintenance on it. Still gets me from A to B
Styling, push button start
Pick-up sometimes sluggish
The 2018 Kia Millionth Edition is the cutest car with two-tone coloring (white roof and dark blue body.) It has all of the extra features you want: Push button start, Sirius radio, Harmon-Kardon stereo, electronic adjustable seats, navigation system. I love this car! It has not given me a bit of trouble is six years.
Everything ever. its freaking awesome
nother
kia soul is sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problems started when my oil was running consistently low before the specified time to change it. It wasn't leaking, it was burning the oil. About a year later, my car is totally dead.
Peppy engine, good mpg
No spare tire, plastic, plastic, plastic
Purchased new. Wasn't really looking to buy a Soul, but had rented one and was surprised at the cargo space and peppy engine. Test drive sold me. The 1.6l turbo is very quick. Handling is okay but has the expected body roll when cornering hard, and rear end is so light it is not pleasant riding in the rear seats. Transmission shifts fine though I have noticed lag upon pulling away from a stop. Things that I have come to dislike are: no spare tire, soft crackling noise that pulses through the speakers (can't figure out why), rear seats don't fold flat to make a level cargo floor, only one seatback pocket (passenger seat), and probably the most annoying thing is the built-in tech. Really don't need it, but all cars come equipped with it now. Hate touchscreens, just give me good old fashioned knobs for climate control. (Why two buttons to control fan speed? Ridiculous.) Anyway, it has been a good vehicle for the 40,000 miles we've put on it but I don't think I'll buy another.
