Positive Review
A few months ago I was bound and determined to be a Hyundai Santa Fe owner, but to my surprise, it impossible to find a V6, Limited Edition with Nav anywhere in CA! So I deciced to test drive other vehicles. Nissan Murano (too many blind spots), Chevy, Mazda, Toyota and then saw a 2011 Kia on the road and was very impressed by the new body style, so went in to test drive and WOW, what a wonderful, quiet, smooth dirve! And the interior was very impressive with so many bells and whistles! So far have only had the car 2 weeks, but feel it totally stands up to the LEXUS SUV and for such a decent cost. I will write again later, but so far I LOVE MY KIA SORRENTO! And, my friends have all given me a thumbs up as well! Good Job Kia with revamp!
Critical Review
i bought the first one in my area. after about 3 months when it started to warm up outside, a wiring harness problem turned on the car alarm. the dealer had to fly somebody in from the factory to fix it. the repair took several days of me driving around in an Accent when i was paying for a Sorneto. after that i got a rattle in the back where they removed panels. 3 months later i took it to the dealer to report that the transmission was slipping. they were "unable to duplicate the problem". a week or so later it completely failed in an intersection. when i brought it in there was another one at the dealer for the same thing. turns out it was happening a lot. my transmission was rebuilt, it still slipped. they replaced it, the new one slipped, there was a recall. they performed the recall and the mileage went up. then it went down and it is slipping again. they are currently unable to duplicate the problem. you can verify my complaints by checking the recalls on a 2011 Sorento. if you still want one, God bless you, get the V6.

I own a 2015 kia sorento LX FWD. I had the motor replaced in 2021.I have 254,000 miles on my kia now, the motor was replaced at 158,000 miles. I bought it used. I have had nothing but problems. The knock censor has gone out 3 times in 1 year. You will not be able to drive over 10 miles per hour, because loss of power, it will chug. I was out of town each time it happened. I keep having to replace the purge valve. I replaced the catalytic converter, coil wires, spark plugs, alternator, new platinum battery, starter, 4 wheel alignment, replaced sway bar, oil changes, etc. With all my vehicle maintenance work. I still have issues. I believe this year was the worse, I do not recommend to buy this vehicle, it has cost me thousands of dollars in repairs. I'm very disappointed with Miss Kia, unhappy owner!!!!
easy to work on and reliable
Cannot update the navigation program, and back up camera is to small
This is the 3rd Sorento i have owned. definetly go with the V6. Only things i have replaced are typical replacement items you would expect, tires, brakes, wipers, battery, shocks, and a washer sensor.
Bought used and was never right after that alignment off tire rod blown engine to name a few after a year of a new engine come to find a faulty fuel pump cause there is two caused oil and gas to mix and blew engine again!! Will never ever buy another Kia again they suck
On Dec 23, 2024, I was in a traumatic car accident. My 2014 Kia Sorento was hit on the rear right passenger side and went through a guard rail into a riverbed. Long drop. Hit a wall. Car is 100% totaled. In addition to airbag, The seatbelts stayed in tact. The body of the vehicle in one piece. The tires did not tear. I have no fractures, broken bones, internal injuries. I am alive. This Sorento saved my life.
Great value
Could be dated by todays standards
We had a 2011 sorento, new to sold, sold at 218,000 miles and there were no issues with it even then. Plenty of room, good fuel economy and a great set of features like Bluetooth, backup camera, and third row.
Worked for a few years
Died after a few years
99,030 miles to be precise. Engine blown and now nothing more than a paperweight. This was my first (and last) KIA, what a joke. I've owned American, Japanese, and German makes over the past few decades, and never had any of them fail before getting at least 140,000 miles (the previous "low"), this piece of junk is an absolute piece of junk.
Not made to last, don’t recommend this car at all. Kept up on maintenance and care. Had issues with the air conditioning. If you want a car that will last you quite a while and use to getting high mileage this is not the car to buy. My engine light came on and I’ve had and seen so many cars that run forever with the engine light on. Not the case for me. Went to get a check engine light evaluation and then took that to KIA, they scheduled me2 weeks later so I assumed it was ok to keep driving. (I did ask if it would be ok to do and they really were no help). So 3 days later it started making a horrible noise then died. Was able to start and get it home 1/4 mile. Got it towed to a shop and they told me the engine blew. Now all I can do is junk it because most people I talk to said it was not worth fixing it at this mileage. I’ll get $300 for whatever metal is on it and parts. Not happy!
Trusty vehicle
Little hard on gas
Check recalls I did made dealer take care of them before I took possession of vehicle and installed a working backup camera since it didn't work
