"Best Minivan I ever owned"

I have owned a Plymouth Voyageur, Honda Oddysey and Volkswagen Routan before this van. Also, before purchasing this van we looked at the Chrysler Town & Country, The Honda Oddysey and the Toyota Sienna. Frankly for overall styling, comfort, functionality, sales and service there wasn't even a close second when comparing the other minivans. We have owned this van for 15 months and it has been incredibly reliable. The buying experience was low pressure and very consumer oriented. Service has been quick and responsive. The vehicle itself drives like a dream. We have 4 teenage kids and there is plenty of room for them. Access in and out is great with the fold up vertical seating. The Chrysler Stow and Go is fine but the seats are puny and don't offer great support. The Kia's vertical push forward second row seats do not disrupt the driver's vision if they are folded forward, is easy to fold up and down and allows for a very comfortable full size seat. The Kia appearance is very nice and has a sportier look (well, as sporty as you can be in a minivan). The interior amenities are really well done and for $4000 to 6000 less then the competition, you get all of the amenities of any full loaded minivan in the market. Room is abundant in all the seating. The driver's seat area is like walking in a lazy boy lounger compared to the diminutive driver space in the Chrysler mini-van (keep in mind I'm only 5'10" tall and it is very tight for me). The Sedona driver cabin allows you to stretch and could comfortably seat a person that is 6'6". Instrumentation is easy to access with minimal to no driver distraction. My only things I wish were better were that there was just a bit more cargo space (although the cargo area is decent). Video system is a fold up at seat level between the first row seats. Would be better to have dual screens on top of each of the first row seats. The single screen is decent size though. Also the fold up storage space between the two front seats has an opening that can either slide or pop up. The sliding function tends to unlock easily. It doesn't spill anything but it is just a slight annoyance. After my first experience with the Sedona, I can easily see myself driving in another Kia passenger car or SUV. The writer of this review could easily afford to drive a Mercedes, BMW or other luxury vehicle. Frankly, the Kia offers a driving experience similar to those luxury SUV vehicles for a relative fraction of the price. Attractive style, smooth and quiet drive with great dealer service and sales. Oh, and of course, the Kia 100,000 or ten year warranty. We had one minor problem with the wiring in one of the electronic sliding doors. It was fixed with no hassle in one day. No bickering about what was and wasn't covered. What's not to like?

"Don't buy this car if you've ever owned a quality"

This is my 1st Kia, and my last. With only 1800 miles, I am ready to sell. Perhaps having owned higher quality cars is my problem, but even the quality of service is much lower. Problems like the vehicle brake system keep coming back. The car seems to suck small road pebbles into the calipers. The dealer says it's something Kia won't pay him to fix and he's not going to take my brakes apart every week to pull stones out unless I pay for it. It's an "environmental" problem and my responsibility. This functional and safety issue coupled with cheap seats and electronics make this a car for those who would consider it as "disposable" when they are done with it. If you have any doubt at all, don't buy it!!!!!!!!

Love my Kia Sedona

I have had no issues with my van. Wonderful on gas mileage. Very comfortable for long trips. Lots of space for storage. Can comfortably fit 8 people.

Great Van.... BUT.....

Our 2015 KIA Sedona mini-van was the best driving vehicle we ever had. Had a luxury ride and still looks like new (as I have taken great care of it). Notice my reference in the past tense. The vehicle is worthless now, not because of anything I did, rather a flaw in the KIA engine. In May, 2024 I received a letter from KIA, announcing an extended warranty for potential coolant leaks, particularly from the head gasket area. When the van started overheating one day I found out through investigating that coolant was leaking into the crankcase via a bad head gasket. The problem is/was that we had outdriven the extended warranty mileage limit by 25,000 miles. It was kind of KIA to let us know about the issue nearly 10 years after the vehicle hit the market. So, I have a vehicle that looks like new and still runs well but is worthless as it needs either the head gasket repaired or a new engine (which is what the KIA shop said was needed). We had just paid it off which added insult to injury. I will never go near another KIA as I don't want to wonder what kind of time bomb awaits that won't be revealed until many years down the line. If you have a 2015 KIA Sedona, get rid of it while you still can, unless it starts overheating for no good reason before it hits 180,000 miles... We've got a Honda Odyssey now...

2016 Kia Minivan LX
Pros

Roomy and value

Cons

White paint peeling and cranky fixed recalls

White paint is by peeling and Kia won’t do anything about it. Lawsuit pending for 2014-2015, but not 2016. A recall for a sliding door that would not shut completely, was fixed and now cranky again less than a year later.

2016 KIA Minivan LX

My Kia has had a few recalls, one of which is the sliding door, not closing completely. It was fixed and is acting up again. The real problem is that the paint is significantly peeling on the outside and KIA is going to do nothing about it. I think there is a lawsuit for the 2014-2015 pending regarding their white paint led vehicles, but not for the 2016. This should be covered for every one of their cars. Beware of white vehicles. I’ve seen many different models and makes with this problem, not just KIA.

I wish zero stars was an option
Pros

Huge, easy to drive and very comfortable.

Cons

The engines die due to faulty manufacturing.

DO NOT buy a 2016 Kia Sedona. In fact, stay away from Kia and Hyundai all together. This van was 50,000 new. It's the SXL with every bell and whistle imaginable. I got it used in 2020 during the pandemic for a STEAL. I LOVED it. Until I was driving down a major highway and the car lost all acceleration and went into limp mode. Thankfully it was early in the morning and there weren't many cars on the road, or it could have been much worse. I was going 60 and suddenly it almost stopped and went down to 35mph. I took it to my mechanic and the oil was BONE DRY. I get my oil changed every 3-5000 miles and check it regularly in between. There were zero warning lights that the oil was low and no changes in performance. It just died. And no evidence of an oil leak either. If you look up 2016 Kia Sedona anywhere you will find hundreds of owners who have the EXACT same issue. Right around 100K, conveniently just after the warranty expires, the engines fail and start burning oil at warp speed. Kia doesn't care because it's "out of warranty" so I am stuck with car that I can't drive and still am making payments on. Kia has been making faulty cars and not standing behind their products. Avoid this car at all costs!!

STOLEN KIA

STOLEN KIA'S

Too many owners of Kia's lives are being ruined due to these vehicles being stolen, damaged if not totalled. Owners are still having to make payments on vehicle even they don't have vehicle. They are being damaged and if found they are held for evidence. When released there is an extremely long wait for repair parts. Who is being responsible for so many lives being affected by this?

KIA 2016 Sedona EX
Pros

Yes fun to drive and plenty of room

Cons

Vehicle does not come with a tow hitch, tow lights

At first I was Leary of owning a mini van, I started with a KIA 2012 the regular size, but I got use to driving everywhere. I used the vehicle for most anything, due that it had a smooth ride and my siblings enjoyed me taking them on trips. Now I own the KIA 2016 Sedona which is the extended version ( EX ). I soon realized that I had to adjust for my right turns. Afterwards, I am still driving my siblings on trips with more room to stretch, Most of the seats are capable reclining back at different positions particularly for long trips. It has pretty much every thing that one may need. I added small round disk mirrors to the exterior mirrors for backing up and good for parking inside the white line, for considerations for other people's vehicles and protecting my KIA
