Forte is Latin for strength and if there ever was car that meant it. In writing this review one must realize this is a kia....but it is not. The Kia Forte blows away any previous Kia cars built before. IT still has the low prices but now back with performance and well fun. I just bought my Forte and the first day i put over 200 miles on it just playing with it. The Kia Forte is spacious, surprisingly so and is a car that is a good group car due to its smooth ride yet sporty possibilities. The engine, although no a V6 or V8 is still fun and despite some review concerns with hills, it takes them like a champ (oh course if you are not in a high gear). The Road driving is so sharp it reminds me of my boss audi A6 and with the LX having so many features,it is a wonder how they will keep these on the lots. The Kia Forte is fun, quick, safe, and spacious.....oh and cheap haha. THis is a great car and i highly recommend it.

Car is fast but very uncomfortable ride. I got for $12,373 on 10/2014 and now, 12/2014 has a trade in value of $8,521. So, I just have a loss of $3,852.30 in just about 40 days.

Affordable fuel efficient
Unreliable manual
Got a manual EX purchased at 62k miles. Started having difficulty shifting into 3rd and the dealer said it needs a new clutch and transmission -_- . Previous manual Nissan Sentra lasted 240k miles on original transmission and clutch so it’s either the previous owner trashed it or Kia manual transmission are trash. Was quoted 6k to fix by dealer.

ticking noise, loud door, occasionally loud noises
I bought my Kia with 170k miles in may and so far have 180k miles, with that I had my brakes fixed and a new battery, but I mean the previous owner sure wore it out which is fine every car needs work, the car kinda makes a ticking noise when it's running. The sound system is beautiful though for a 2010. But the car door sounds like metal when you close it but no biggy

I bought this car new in 2010. I have changed the oil and break pads regularly. I have not had any trouble where I have had to take it to a garage. One of the most dependable cars I have ever owned.
Cheap, decent performance for what it is.
Lots of lemon engines
Despite regular maintenance and normal driving, engine started ticking at 63k miles. Needed an engine replacement. Dealer took 8 months to get it done. Fortunately, warranty covered it and the rental car. Once I finally got the car back, plagued by check engine light and rough idling. Dealership blamed it on me for not using premium gas and tried to charge me for sensors and such that I knew wasn't the issue given it hadn't been a problem prior to engine swap. After multiple returns to dealership and a couple more months of work and troubleshooting, they had to get a Kia technician come look at it and it was determined to be "engine tappets too tight" whatever that means. So otherwise, good car. And fortunately for me a good waranty. But that whole experience has made me never want another kia.

Rattling noise
The only thing wrong with the car is it has an unidentified rattle. I’ve taken it to several mechanics as they all have stated it’s nothing serious.

I purchased this car new in April 2011. It initially had an issue with an airbag wiring harness that required 2 trips to the dealer to correct. Since then it's been oil changes, tire rotations and replacements and filter replacements. Nothing beyond normal, scheduled maintenance. It never left me stranded or needed to limp home - totally reliable. Fuel economy is quite good, averaging around 28 mpg around town and in the 33 to 35 mpg range on the highway (unless I exceed 75 mph, where it begins to drop off quickly). Performance is quite adequate although not exciting.
Has a moon roof.. maintained car every 3000 miles.
