Positive Review
Jeep's have been around forever. Mine is the straight 6 and one of the best engines that was made by this manufacture in my opinion. I can get around in the snow and ice driving respectfully. Yes they use a little more gas but it is also the fact that they have a smaller sized gas tank. This Jeep will get up to speed and has plenty of pep. I have many confuse with my jeep with way newer models. If you are seeking to have a fun summer and reliable dependable winter vehicle than sounds like you are on the right track looking at a Jeep Wrangler Sahara. This vehicle has hard doors with roll up windows and the door comes off if you want. It has A/C and an excellent heater/ defroster for those cold frozen mornings. They have a shifter light to let you know you need to shift gears if you are new to that. Also has carpet that is removable if you want to take it out for some reason. The bucket seats are very comfy with lumbar support. Seats tilt all the way back if you want to snooze in your ride. Leather steering wheel is comfy and nice. Cruise control is great from long road trips. They are often seen being towed behind a sweet RV or Motorhome. They are wonderful classic rides. They also hold there value very well.
Critical Review
I have owned my Wrangler for nearly 10 years. It has 168K on it. I have had to replace the AX-15 transmission, it blew apart 5th gear. Transfer case seal has leaked twice. Front Pinion seal is leaking. AC has not worked in 3 years. Replaced the exhaust manifold 3 times. Replaced the radiator due to leaks around the tank. Has 13 rock chips and 1 stress crack in the front windshield. Fender flares have been painted with semi gloss bumper paint due to fading. Steering box is sloppy and needs replaced. Rear main seal on engine is leaking. Body is starting to rust around top of wheel tub area inside the tub, and around the drivers side rocker panel. AC drain leaked in floor until I extended the drain tube with a piece of heater hose. Oil pressure sending unit has been reading flase zero's for 8 years. Dash guages are intermittent due to poor connection, have to take apart and clean every couple of years. Even after all of that, I wouldn't trade it for a new Porsche. The Jeep, as flawed as it is, has been the most fun, most used, most cherished vehicle I have ever owned. My wife and I were married in it.......it has been on cross country trips, and many a 4 wheeling expedition. If you buy a Jeep, don't expect Toyota style quality out of it and you will be happy.

2002 wrangler low mileage decent condition.aaaaasaassasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Plenty of torque
Can get a little squirrelly at higher speeds
The 99 Jeep with the 4.0 will get close to 500,000 miles if maintained . These engines are the best that Jeep ever produced. They are bulletproof
Go anywhere, open-air
Lot's of wind/road noise, as you would expect
I bought my chili pepper-red, '98 Wrangler Sport in Nov. of 1997 and it has 117,000 miles on it (I take public transportation to work and it's garaged the majority of the time). I've had zero problems with it all these years. The 4.0 engine is one of the most highly rated engines ever built. I've replaced the clutch and muffler once and am on my 3rd soft top (so easy to replace on your own). I have the top down all summer with just a bikini top over the cab. What a fun ride! It's easy to customize even older Wranglers thanks to the many after-marked outfitters. It still looks brand new.
Quality, affordable to maintain, reliable
I have owned my Jeep 18 years bought it in 2006 with 54.000 miles. Been well kept preventive maintenance minor fixes. She has 115.000 now and still going strong.
Reliable, great in the snow, excellent sight lines
Bumpy ride if you’re passing a kidney stone!
With 133K miles (mostly driven in AZ), my white with black hardtop, 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport is my second love. I was just a kid at 42 when I bought this and last night, I was considering (for a nanosecond), selling it. We have another vehicle, but selling this would be like abandoning a dear friend. I’d have to get an offer at least twice the blue book value to even consider it. We owned a pine green, 1999 soft top simultaneously, for 13 years and it was ideal to have a desert-ready vehicle my husband could drive with the top off, and my, more luxurious version for my commute and going out without hiking boots! If you can get your hands on a used Wrangler from those years, which was well-maintained with decent mileage, you won’t be disappointed. They’re in it for the long game. I hope mine is driven alongside the hearse in my funeral procession!!!
The Jeep Tj is not exactly the most comfortable of vehicles. I have the SE with the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine and 5-speed manual, and can definetly say that if you are going to use it as a daily driver for your commute, there are better alternatives. However, it is very good at what it does, which is trudging through terrain most cars could not even imagine driving through. It is a fun, sporty, and beautiful classic offroad convertible with a neat history and high customization ability. It drinks gasoline relentlessly, but the manual transmission combined with the 2.5L engine helps reduce that high fuel usage a bit. It is very scary going above 50 MPH, and I do not recommend using it for highway driving regularly, if at all. The steering whell is incredibly responsive which is fantastic for offroadibg at low speeds, but naturally causes stability issues at high speeds. Fender benders can cause relatively no real damage to the Jeep itself, but there is a very real rollover risk that you can feel when turning. Also, a mechanic told me that you have to get your steering gesr lubricated every so often or it will sieze up, as that is what my mechanic said happened to their Tj, causing an accident. Overall, the Jeep Tj is a great vehicle in my experiance, however you must remember what it is, what it was designed for, and treat it accordingly. It has no real luxury features anf is prettybasic, but that also makes it easier to repair yourself, even with barely any car repair experiance. It may have a top speed of 88MPH and the aerodynamics of a cow, but what it lacks in speed, it makes up for in all-terrain capability and excellent handling. At least, that has been my experiance with it.
Fun
2.5 engine
I want to let someone to buy this to talk care of it like I have it’s fun runs great I’m selling to up grand good for teen
I bought mine new in 2002 with 5 miles on it. I upgraded to 33" tires, 2' body lift, light bar the works. It is a manual transmission and at around 45k miles, the clutch flywheel went out. Apart from that and a new radiator at 64k miles that's pretty much the bulk of the big repairs. Of course there have been a few new batteries, and new tires along the way but overall I am very happy with this vehicle. Jeeps ride a little rougher then most cars so I knew what I was getting into there. It is quite loud if you have a soft top going above 50 mph, don't expect to hear someone talking right next to you on a freeway/ interstate. The hardtop is well worth the investment for both winter months and if you travel at high rates of speed frequently. I drive fairly low amounts these days so my vehicle is currently 21yrs old with only 67k miles on it, but man I love this car. It was my 2nd Jeep wrangler purchase and 3rd overall Jeep purchase I feel like they hold up pretty well and right off the line come very much 4wd capable for fun trail rides.
