Positive Review

"The Cheaper Jeep"

Jeep is well known for off road capabilities and overall the patriot will do the job off road. I recently traded in my patriot for a wrangler. I liked driving my patriot and only had a complaint about the quality of certain things in the car such as the weather molding coming undone after 6 months. Little things like the radio would randomly act up and cause minor headaches. Although I generally liked my patriot the most alarming thing is how horribly these patriots hold their value. Upon wanting to trade I was told my Jeep had depreciated over $9,000 and had to trade in with negative equity. They had over 20 patriots on the lot and only 2 wranglers. Simply put I think if you can afford a little higher payment it is worth investing in a wrangler. The resale value stays extremely strong for wranglers and I personally just love owning a wrangler! Although the patriot makes a great family car for a cheaper initial price tag.

Critical Review

"STAY AWAY!!"

The Jeep Patriot offered exactly what I was looking for. Small SUV with Jeep Styling and reliability and at a good cost. I have a 2014 Patriot Limited, with about 40000 miles on it. At first everything was great, I loved all the features my limited had! The sunroof, sound system, leather was all awesome! Then things started to go downhill. This car has turned into a nightmare, it rattles at idle, my steering wheel shakes radically, air conditioning makes a horrible grinding noise, when I turn left the steering makes a horrible winding noise. When I brought it back to the dealership for service, I was basically I got what I paid for a cheap car and there was nothing they could do for me. For its size the gas mileage is really not that great either. I was never expecting this car to be the car of my dreams, however I also was not expecting it to be the car of my nightmares!!

Pros

gas milage

Cons

EVERYTHING

The patriot sucks bad. When first got mine with 53,000 miles, wheel speed sensor immediately went out, after getting it fixed, it immediately started having electrical issues and severe difficulty going up hills(5,000 rpms to go up a small hill and still lose 10-20mph). highly advise not to get one of these.

Good Daily

Good car to get from point A to point B. Not to bad bad on gas. I drive pretty far for school everyday and its pretty smooth. Only issue I have with it is fixing it. Lady who owned it before me never took care of it. Also Whoever engineered the engine bay needs a punch in the face. I have had such a hard time trying to fix it. Not that it is difficult to fix but because everything is so tight and jeep designer's to put things in stupid places. But with the right tools it did make the job easier. Things to look out for is the rubber. The rubber in the car does go out and you need to replace them. AKA (motor mounts, coolant hoses, bushings, sway bar links, anything with rubber) However Decent car its not huge but it has plenty of room for me.

Good until the last year
Pros

Cheaper 4WD car

Cons

Design flaws

It's a 10 year old car I get it. But between the CVT transmission slowly dying, the sub frame rotting because the A/C system was designed to drip on it, and the general brand of Jeep... I'm definitely never going with this car again.
