"It's A Jeep!! Not A Japanese Toaster"

First I should start off by saying my household is exclusively a jeep household that being said. I have had my Jeep for almost 2 years now and I have nothing bad to say about it other than, the sky slider roof takes some getting used to. I have driven my jeep up and down the East coast as well as from NY to California without any problems to report. I currently live in Southern California so there is really no need for the 4x4 unless you are looking for a reason to use it. I have been to Big Bear as well as Sequoia National Park in the dead of winter when the snow banks towered over the jeep and it plowed thru like a champ. I made it to the 6700 feet mark without any chains and only really had to engage the 4 wheel drive one the snow on the ground was 3 or more feet. Overall I am very happy with my jeep and I can't wait until 2013 when I can trade it in for another Liberty.

Critical Review

"I'm looking for a new car immediately."

I have had this car since 2014 and it was my first car after the hand-me down from my grandparents. I love the look and how it feels when I drive it but in the past two years it seems like I have had a problem every other month. First my serpentine belt fell out and my waterpump broke at the same time. Then my brakes went out completely (that was fun while trying to stop fast). This past year my spark plugs kept misfiring three times. Finally they found out that it had something to do with the PCM (I am not a car person so I am writing literally what the mechanic told me) and only the Chrysler dealership could fix it. The car literally shakes as I drive it and barely drives anymore. The third and final time I went brought it to the mechanic this week they told me just to go ahead and get a new car right now. I am currently on my way to looking at a Toyota or Honda. Good thing I have people who let me borrow their extra cars otherwise I would've had to miss work more times than I can count.

2012 Jeep Liberty Sucks
Pros

None

Cons

Everything

Worst car I've ever had. Replaced everything from a battery to head gaskets in less than a year. Worst vehicle ever made! I do not recommend. My mechanic legit has my car more than I do!

Loving the Jeep
8/1/2024
Keeps on going!

218k miles and doing the regular maintenance, loving the cargo space and the ability to play in the snow. I will admit that I got a diamond off the assembly line... I hear the horror stories about transmissions and engines needing replaced at 60k to 80k miles. Will keep it running till I cant, just love the boxyness and dislike the european slim look..

Loved my Jeep
Pros

Sound system, 4WD Low, easy to work on

Cons

Gas mileage, Sky Slider roof, leg room

I absolutely loved my 2010 Jeep Liberty Limited but there are some things to be weary of. STAY AWAY from the Sky Slider Roof option REPEAT STAY AWAY! Cool concept but Chrysler outsourced a third party Japanese company to manufacture the entire assembly. Well, that company went under and the roof Was discontinued so trying to fix it is tough nowadays. It will break on you or at the very least it will leak. Best thing you can do is seal it shut permanently with caulk and tape, then get a rack. It also gets shockingly bad gas Mileage for a robust 3.7 L. If you live in an area with snow and plan to use 4x4 often, expect 12-13mpgs tops. I have gotten 23 mpgs highway though. Bought my liberty with 86k back in 2017 and currently have it for sale with 156800k. Only mechanical issue I’ve had was losing the serpentine belt do to a failed tentioner. Super reliable rig!

DEFECTIVE JEEP COVER UP FCA-JEEP 2012 Jet Liberty
Pros

It is a nice looking Jeep

Cons

Everyitng is a loss, poor performance, Defects

I bought a New 2012 Jet Jet Liberty Limited Edition, within the first 8 months issues started to happen, then several recalls, then Transmission slippage, Rear End Leaks, Metal seat coils came popping up and hurting passengers. I had taken it to the local Dealership more than 23 times in 4 years . Yet they lied and place "Used" Defective parts on it. Then they got caught as one alleged new part was actually a recalled used part and they billed MOPAR Warranty under false pretenses. After the State Investigated this Dealership for Fraud, Defective parts etc. Since their were some injuries caused by coil springs popped up on passengers, I was given a FCA-Jeep MOPAR MAX-MAX Lifetime warranty. Yet recently again more issues; stalling while driving, accelerating without touching petal, Gear Slips while changing from Park to R or D it slips, recalled time and time again, AC and Heater do NOT work three times I paid out of pocket to fix it time and time again. The local area 3 Jeep Dealership all refused to honor any Warranty telling me the Jeep is a "Lemon and Defective" When i was able to have the Jeep inspected by B.A.R., and other Safety agencies they soon discovered many other defects and the used of "USED" parts not new. The local Dealer then recently told me "Never ever bring that Jeep back to us" it is a dangerous to drive and is a Lemon/Defective Jeep as i research other Jeeps like mine there are hundreds of reporting problems. That is why they only made the 2012 Jet Jet Liberty Limited for one year and the extended warranty will not be honored. So do not buy any Jeep

Love if you have the money for repairs

This car is fun and it’s nice looking but aside from that after 100,000 miles I’m dealing with problem after problem it’s not worth much so sad from a jeep owner.

Very Dependable

I had my Liberty for eleven years. I took care of oil changes and scheduled maintenance. Only had to replace tires and water pump. Didn't ride very quiet, but then again, it's a Jeep.

Never Buy!
Pros

Looks alright

Cons

Everything else

I’ve owned this car for 2 years, and I can confidently say it is the worst car I’ve ever owned. Horrendous on gas, unnecessarily heavy steering compared to other cars in this category, and easily the worst car I’ve ever driven in the snow. Not to mention it’s left me stranded 3 times and it’s been in for 2 recalls, involving seat belt retractors and the AIRBAG. It’s reasonably quick, granted, but it has a terrible transmission that makes for a very unresponsive power delivery. All in all, please stay away from these things, no matter the price
