Positive Review
We purchased a 2006 Jeep Commander a year ago and I really love it! It is a smooth ride and a lot of interior room. I feel safe and best of all my kids love it too! The gas mileage averages about 19-21 on the highway, slightly lower if you drive in stop and go traffic. There is lots of storage and cubby space in the front and all the seats fold down with ease. The only downside to this vehicle is the theater style seating. The second row is higher than the first and the third row is even higher. The third row is NOT adult friendly because it has limited leg room.
Critical Review
The Jeep Commander looks great on the outside, even at 10 years old. However, the interior and under the hood is another story. The upholstery stains incredibly easily, even if you just spill water on the seats. Immediately after spilling, I tried all kinds of fabric cleaner, etc. and nothing will even fade the stain. 3 out of the 4 interior door handles broke, the 3rd row seat is stuck in position so I am unable to lower it for more cargo room, the back lift gate does not lock, if someone is sitting in the front passenger seat, the seat belt alarm will constantly chime even if the seat belt is buckled and the dealership wants over $500 to fix, the airbag light would not turn off even though there was nothing wrong and it cost almost $400 to fix so I could pass the annual safety check. The remote keyless entry fob broke and Jeep wants almost $400 for a new one. It wouldn't be so bad using the key all the time, but there is only ONE keyhole on the entire car! Whoever designed this Jeep needs to never, ever design another vehicle again. In order to fix all of this at the dealership, it would cost more than the car is worth, at this point. This car is the biggest rip off and Jeep should be ashamed of themselves. This is the 3rd Jeep I have owned but I will never ever buy one again!!!

I’ve owned my 2007 Commander for 12 years. Other than replacing the engine in ‘08 it has preformed like a beast, thus I have named her “Beasty!” I’ve driven her off road through water, dirt, sand & mud in NW Florida and she has never let me down! A year ago I moved to mid-Michigan and plan many more adventures up here with her. I also have a 2008 Wrangler (DirtyHooker) who has seen a lot of mud! I wouldn’t drive anything but a JEEP!!!
This has been the best vehicle I've ever owned. It's very rugged and is good for off-roading, if you are into that kind of thing. I would definitely buy this again!

Safe to drive
This car is really reliable for car accidents. It was hit while the other driver was driving fast speed and the car only suffer minor damages compared to the speeding car

BAD Paint
the paint is popping off on the top and the hood called jeep and they said the car is too old, so i have to live with it. i asked him why it is doing it, and he went in to, jeep dipped the parts in paint, but that was not what i asked him. N0w i have a $7.000 car worth $3000.00 never will ever buy a jeep again. love the jeep but hate the paint and the attitude of there rep. Sence this started happening i have noticed several dark colored jeeps doing this.
Fun to drive. Comfortable. Attractive. Secure ride
Fuel economy isn't very good.
I bought this as a high mileage vehicle. I am glad I did. I have had very little problems with it and it sure does feel safe and secure on snow packed and icy roads. The interior is very well equipped the heated seats are perfect and it is a quiet ride. The exterior is boxy almost like a Range Rover and the style is great with me. I pull a trailer with it and never have an issue.
I bought my Jeep used almost four years ago and I’ve had minimal issues until recently. I haven’t had any engine or transmission trouble what so ever but I’ve had to change the breaks/rotors a couple of times. Other than that it’s been smooth sailing.
