What Owners are Saying About the 1997 Jeep Cherokee
"Amazing vehicle"
"For my 1997 Jeep Cherokee it is a best, I bought it almost a year ago and when I bought it off of one of my buddies it was in terrible condition. My valve cover was leaking oil, the blinkers wouldn't work, heater and A/C wouldn't work, had a transmission oil leak, etc. The list goes on need less to say in the short time that I have had this Jeep I have done a lot to it which is really surprising because of how busy I am working full time and also going to school full time. But, I have almost everything fixed on my Jeep and so far everything that I have done has been really easy. The dash and most if not all of the trim inside of the Jeep you can take off with just a simple screwdriver. Overall the Jeep Cherokee is an amazing vehicle on and off the road."
"The rumors are true, these things last forever."
"Ive had my Cherokee for years, and this has been by far the best/most reliable vehicle ive ever owned...I picked this car up as a winter beater, but as time went on I began to realize that this boxy, iconic Jeep is capable of much more than that. With over 20 years under its belt and over 200,000 miles, its never had a check engine light, never had a breakdown, and has really only required minimal maintenance (the past two years its required oil changes and a new battery). I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone that is looking for a capable 4X4 that will likely outlast most newer/more expensive vehicles."
"Amazing Vehicle"
"This 99 is my 2nd one. My 87 went over 350,000 without a second thought. Almost trouble free, and only minor issues, (sensors, A/C compressor, things like that) but what can I expect for 350,000 miles. I used it, abused it, neglected it, and put it through things that would destroy the best of them. After I sold it to a friend, it got passed around his family for about another 5 years. It did hit 500,000 before I lost track of it. Even at that point, not even the valve cover was removed. That 4.0 is amazing. I have 84,000 on my 99 now, and it has never let me down, never stranded, always starts right up, even in -30 degree weather. I had to put a fuel pump in it, due to a short span of hard starting, But I expect at least that. What a fantastic truck. A little tight for front legroom, but changing the seat tracks to power helped a ton. If it got totalled today, I would replace it with another exactly like it. There will probably be one in my driveway till the day I die."
