Positive Review
First of all KBB should have broken the review on the XK8/XKR into two sections. Pre / Post 2003. Pre 2003 Cars have a long list of failure by design problems in the 4.0 Engine which came straight from Ford with the Plastic Tensioners that fail and destroy the Engine, Plastic Water Pump, Throttle Body failures and Mercedes 5 Speed Solenoid Failures. 2003 to 2006 are totally different Bullet Proof designs. Add some R Performance Options like the 20" BBS wheels, Recaro Seating, and Big Cross Drilled Brembos and you will own the sexiest car on the planet! My 04 XKR is going on 12 years old and has seen zero failures. She is 100 percent as it left the factory down to the battery, abeit some fresh tires. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. If your looking for one, pony up for the 4.2 Liter design and avoid a lot of potential expensive failures.
Critical Review
This is a follow up review to one I originally posted in August 2008. My initial optimistic review was just that - overly optimistic. As for the styling of the car, I still love it's line, I loved the performance, but it's realibility and cost of repairs left me speechless. It wasn't the motor, or the transmission, it was weird insanely expensive repairs that did me in. Let's see, was it the $3300 hydraulic pump, or the $1100 hydraulic lines for the top that suddenly and without warning stopped working? The airbag sensors (located conveniently under the front seats) that are prone to fail, the 02 sensors located under the front quarter panels? And I am not even going to talk about the fuel lines that when they leak take out the valve cover gaskets then spew stinking black smoke out of the stylish hood vents! I had heard from not only the Jaguar dealership - but also other mechanics that once these cars hit 80000 miles - GET RID of them! The tension control nuts for the timing belt are notoriously famous for failing, they will start to tick, then BOOM, gone and your rebuilding the engine. If your going to venture down the perilous path of pre owned Jaguars, do yourself a favor - don't even consider one that does not come with a warranty!! If you already have one, love it, drive it, but listen to that little voice in the back of your head that whispers......"I should have bought a new Mustang GT ragtop instead!!"

Amazing car, absolutely love it. Great as a garage queen, or a daily driver. Generates admiring looks everywhere I go.
I bought my 01 XKR used in 2005, spent less than $1k on a slightly upgraded exhaust, and CAI (From Mina Gallery), kept all original parts (including mufflers)...other than replacing rear wheel bearings and regular maintenance i havent spent $ on repairs in 19 years of ownership.
Great driving in the summer AND winter with the heat and heated seats. So much fun and is a beauty. Still in mint condition.
Convertible, light blue drives beautifully garage kept repaired left rear fender several years ago original miles, tires new in 2014, 9000 miles ago, 8 cylinder 4 liter engine. Leather seats. NO WINTER DRIVING!
O Beautiful body, excellent ride, nice bodywork, good tires Wonderful service. Excellent quality good looking.
Stunning to look at and Pilot!
Fixing it.... If it should need repair
OK so Jag has a bad wrap. But until you are piloting one of these down a highway, you will never experience the thrill. Mine can get up to 24 MPG on the highway. 18 Mpg around town. Stunning to look at, thrilling to drive and experience the Burled walnut and Connelly leather. A great collector car value for the dollar. Not many to pick from, only less than 20 listed throughout the USA. The Coupes are VERY RARE! I have mine. I have two.
Extremely awesome to own and drive
No cons
No complaints. Haven’t ever owned a sports car. Now I’ll always be on the prowl for a new Jag. Thanks
Runs quite. Looks and sounds new.
Love this car! Handles well and never has let me down. Keep this car in the garage and babied it. All recommended maintenance done. Oil changes with synthetic oil only. Wish I could keep this car but have to sell.
