Positive Review
So, I just bought my second XJ8, a 2004 with 28,000 original miles (not bad for a 10 year old car). I had one previously that was a dream and just had to get my hands on another low miles beauty. Now, before you buy know that the car comes in basically four models, the XJ8, XJ8L, XJ8 Vanden Plas, and XJR (turbo). The XJ8L came out in 2005 and it along with the Vanden Plas is 5 inches longer. I own the 2004 XJ8 with the 200" length. Any basic XJ comes with so many convenience/luxury options it should please you to no end. If you want to upgrade you can get upgraded sound with CD stacker, heated seats, Xenon headlights, and 18 or 19 inch factory wheels. Oh, and they also made a DVD player with screens in the front seat headrests. Truthfully, ANY configuration will delight you. Check out service intervals to get an idea of maintenance costs...basically all you do is change the oil, etc. until around 100k miles when you're going to spend appx. $2000 at an independent repair shop for a big service job (much more at a Jaguar dealer!). So beware, 100,000 miles is a big deal for service expense. For economy you will get appx. 27 mpg in highway driving...I just drove a 1000 mile trip and mileage was 27.2 at 73 mph. Now here's a BIG important tip: When you buy one of these cars you should have the tranmission re-programmed so it will adjust to your driving style and preferences. It will cost about $300 to get this done but it's the best $300 you will spend to get full enjoyment from the car. Thing is, when you buy one used it's got the previous owner's settings and to compare it would be like buying an adult dog and having to retrain it to mind your commands. So go ahead and reprogram the transmission. All in all, you can buy a really nice used XJ8 for about 20% of what it cost new and they are such beautiful autos (Road and Track called it the most beautiful sedan in the world) that you will never tire of its looks and the compliments you WILL get almost every time you gas up or show up somewhere. These cars are at the bottom of their depreciation cycle and based on their reliability, looks, and performance they are probably the BEST value in a used luxury car anywhere on the planet. Be thankful you live in the good old USA and can afford to pamper yourself in the British luxury only Jaguar can offer. And one final thought...don't you think a snarling wild jungle cat on the hood is soooo much hotter than a peace sign? Hope this info helps...
Critical Review
I bought this 2004 XJR on Nov 2014. It drove fine for about 3 months and ever since then I had nightmare problems with the suspension and all kind of lights going on. I put over $2K on it in the last year and had it at the Mechanic's garage for over 3 months. DONT BUY IT!

Performance, styling, ride and reliability
Lost its shorter, low-slung look
The 2007 XJ has been notably modified to accommodate larger and taller passengers, yet it still retains many of the visual styling cues of the classic, previously low-slung XJ series of years before. IMO, it is the last of the 'real' Jaguar XJ sedans available and sure to become a classic. Having owned many Jaguars over the years, the 2007 XJ still has the power, luxury, agility and performance you'd expect. My XJR sports massive (optionally upgraded) Sepang 20" X 9" rims, which grip the road like glue and the 4.2 liter 400 hp velvet-hammer engine provides enough power to throw you back in your seat when you need to move quickly. Ride quality is smooth yet has a sporty-feel for the driver. The interior is enveloping, trimmed in fine walnut burl wood and leather creating a rich, warm and inviting environment. Although the XJ initially depreciates in value, this offers any used car buyer an opportunity to acquire this truly exceptional automobile a price-point that is hard to pass-by. Another point of consideration is reliability, which is actually quite good given the improvements in quality achieved by Jaguar engineers over the past several years. I highly recommend this car as a daily driver or simply to hold as a future classic, especially for Jaguar enthusiasts or collectors. It is a true joy to own and drive.
Quality, Style, Comfort, "WOW" Factor.
"Some" Jaguar specific parts can be expensive
If you're looking for a luxury car that has timeless and sophisticated styling, look no further! I bought my 2005 VDP used in 2021 with 58k miles for $13k in almost mint condition. I get a lot of looks and wonderful comments on it all the time. I've taken it in to the Jaguar dealership and another luxury car shop and they say what a beautiful vehicle it is. The only major problem I've had is the throttle body had to be replaced at the dealership and it only cost 1k out the door. That is probably comparable to a Toyota. I was expecting to pay much more. A lot of the parts are Ford and relatively cheap. Check on Rockauto yourself. Ford did a lot to improve the Jaguar Car Company. The comfortable ride is equivalent to a Bentley or a Rolls Royce. The Jaguar brand suffers from a past reputation the same way Mercedes and BMW benefit from a past reputation. The VDP is far superior to either of those brands sedans at the time. The luxury mechanic shop I take it to has Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Astin Martin's and Lotus. But all the mechanics come over to check my Jaguar out. Its completely ridiculous how cheap you can get these amazing cars for so little. Mine sold originally for $85k. I know that the air struts can go bad at this age and to have them replaced by the dealership can be expensive. But, if you know how to turn a wrench, you can order all the parts from Rockauto and do it yourself for a fraction of the price. Don't listen to the naysayers that Jaguars aren't reliable. Most of them have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. They're just parroting what other people say. Do your research as I did.

I want to purchase car Jaguar xj8 2006. How do I get to purchase this car. there is no address. I would like a response. thank you.
This car is a fantastic sedan. Sleek, roomy but super fast with the supercharged engine. Comfort beautiful, fit and finish inside. Stops on a dime and has saved my life more than once with Brembo brakes, cross drilled rotors. Almost 20 years in and it still get compliments from strangers. If you want luxury and speed this is a car to enjoy. Best buy on used car market.
British class at a Hyundai price.
Maintenance
The 2007 Jaguar XJ8 sedan is perhaps the most underrated vehicle on the planet. For the price of a very used Toyota; you can drive one of the most beautifully designed sedans ever. With old school British elegance; including lots of fine leather and wood in the interior as well as a smooth and powerful 4.2 liter V8 you’ll be styling for the price of an econobox. But beware: Jags are notoriously finicky and repairs are expensive. It’s not if; but when will the complex air suspension system fail. Once a well cared for example is located and purchased… just get it sorted out and it will provide you with years of motoring pleasure.

Too much gas
Car is in good condition no Rex need a ride good hard motor everything works always reliable strong dependable nice color beautiful body style
Quiet, powerful, timeless design.
None. I will buy a 5th when ready.
The evolution of the all aluminum frame makes the 2007 a dream to own and drive. I get 27-29mpg at speed limit HWY diving. Continental Cross Contact tires are the purrfect marriage with my VDP.
